The kids didn't get to play in the snow much this winter because I had a new baby the first part of winter and then January was so mild. We did happen to have a late snow and the kids were so excited to get out and play. They had a blast.
Mia Yvonne Anderson was born November 28, 2010. She was 9 lbs 9 oz and 21 inches long. We are happy to have her in our family and her brother and sister love her so much. She loves to smile and coo at us and has recently learned how to laugh.
Melanie turned 4 on March 3. She wanted to go to Mobius Kids for her birthday, so we spent the afternoon there as a family and then came home and had pizza, presents, and cake. She requested a bunny cake for her birthday. She wanted it to be just like her favorite stuffed animal, Bow Bunny. I thought it was a pretty good likeness, but she had to inform me that her bunny has arms and legs. Oh well.
Melanie asked me recently if she could take ballerina class, so I signed her up for a class that starts next month. Her next request was, "Mom, if I'm going to go to ballerina class, I need ballerina cloths." She now has a leotard and tutu that she is very proud of and wears constantly. Last week she removed our table and chairs from the dining room so she could have a stage and pretended she was teaching ballet to a bunch of ballerinas. I was listening from the other room and could hear her say, "okay ballerina's, and one and two and three.." It was very cute.
Cody has enjoyed the freedom of a "big boy bed". He has discovered he can get up and play instead of going to sleep. What frequently happens now is that he plays and plays until he gets so tired he falls asleep on the floor with toy in hand.
Something we did for fun this summer was visit Glacier National Park. This trip was for me and I was so excited about it. It was so breathtaking. Everything was so green and the glacier-carved mountains were stunning. We stayed in a hotel near the park for a few nights and drove into the park during the day. We spent a lot of time in the car over the course of three days, and the kids were real troopers. The best part of the trip for them was throwing rocks into the lake. Cody managed to whack Melanie in the head with one pretty good. It left quite a goose egg. The kids really wanted to take a boat ride, so we did. They thought that was pretty neat. We even got to see a bear while we were there (not too close thank goodness).
