I suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck.

Why can't I keep focused and post on here? I feel like i've fallen into a vicious tumblr well and can't get out.

I've been a ball of stress lately.  Work has been soooooooooooooooooo slow.  Worse than ever, and there was a big layoff on Friday.  I'm just waiting for the axe to fall.  So with that, I've been proactively job hunting.  I have so many plans I want to accomplish this year and I can't do it on an unemployment check.  So fingers crossed - things pick up.  The whole semi-conductor business is kind of in flux right now across the country.  They need to just do a push and start being active and get us all busy again.

So I joined this fun little site called RocksBox.  I won a month membership and would love to be able to stick with it.  They send you a box with jewelry curated to your tastes, and you can wear it as long as you like.  Then when you're ready to exchange you send back, or you have the option to buy it at discount.  I just thought it was a fun little surprise to get in the mail to help give my wardrobe some oomph.

I'm hoping to buy a bike soon if I can find one at a decent price. We have such great rail trails here and I want to get out and utilize them. I feel like I have been in a blanket-cocoon all winter and I'm ready to roll.  I want one of those fun beach cruisers. :)

Hockey playoffs are in full swing, so that will keep me busy until June.  Bruins face the despicable Habs in round two. Vomit...

Tv i'm loving right now is the new season of Veep, Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey (obsesssssed with it), Believe, Blacklist and I guess The Good Wife.  The departure of Breaking Bad has left a jupiter sized chasm in the tv world that is nearly impossible to fill.  Oh I'm loving Fargo as well.  It's twisted and dark and right up my alley.

Other than that?  Life rolls on... <3

I love "O Canada" - it's such a better song than our anthem.  It actually feels inspiring.  brb moving to Toronto...

Well the first full week of work is over for 2014.  It's hard coming back after the short holiday weeks the end of December.  Especially when it's SO sloooooooooooooooooow.  I've been job hunting in the meantime because it's making me a little crazy.  I would rather this one just get busy, because the pay is good and the peeps are cool.  So my fingers are crossed that there are more challenges and things to do in the weeks to come there.

We had our holiday party at a swanky restaurant last night.  It was nice.  Just a small, intimate group and good wine/good nosh.  I think I am still full a whole night later...  Tomorrow I think I'll get out of the house and go see a movie.  I think I'll see Lone Survivor.  I'm always a sucker for a war movie of any kind.  There is a long list of movies I need to get to, but since nobody wants to see this one with me, it seems like a good day to just go get lost at the theater.

The best part of my week was this:

;alskfj;asldkf.............SO EXCITED!!!!!  We're going in March, so it gives me something awesome to look forward to! :)

Gonna make a cappuccino and get ready for some playoff games and stay awake for Bruins on the west coast.  My boys need to get back to the east so I can go to sleep at a respectable time.

2014!

I wish I wasn't such a cynic and could be like most people who look at January 1 as a fresh start.  I have to be such a jackass and think it's just another day on the calendar.  But sincerely, bravo to people who take on that attitude.  Ido take it on with my savings envelope.  I do the 52 week savings plan where week one you put in one dollar, week two you put in two dollars, etc. until you end up with...$1300+. I call it vacation money.

I'm still entering lots of contests every day.  It keeps my brain from going darkside in these winter months.  I hit my holy grail and won not only one but two Nespresso machines last week.  I'm giving one to my brother for his birthday I'm SO excited about that!!  I've wanted one since I came back from Spain and now I finally have one and didn't have to shell out any cash. Win/win.  I have won a lot of great stuff lately that offsets spending; Visa cards, Target cards, etc.  Free groceries = more in my savings.

I went to see The Wolf of Wall Street on New Years Day.  I loved it.  I found it to be really great story-telling and DiCaprio was fantastic.  I feel like it's going to probably be the other end of the see-saw come awards season to American Hustle, which I also liked.  Mostly for Jennifer Lawrence rocking out in her dish washing gloves.

We're in a "winter storm Hercules" freeze here at the moment.  Not a pleasant start to the year.  I have been off of work since Tuesday afternoon, which feels a little weird.  Too bad I didn't have a real vacation planned it would have been ideal.  Thankfully I have a sincerely cool boss who urged me to just stay home instead of risking it.  A couple weeks back I stayed longer than I should have at work when it snowed and it took me four hours to drive, and two hours to wait it out while they plowed my road.  I vowed to never do it again.  I can't mentally take it anymore.  Yes I want to move back to Boston, but damn let me live near the T stops please.  Me + driving in winter weather = so done.

In October I went to Niagara Falls and Toronto with my roadtrippers.  I loved Toronto SO MUCH.  I need to go back and spend more time.  I wish we had spent more time there than at Niagara.  The falls are nice but the tourist area and surrounding area are horrible.  See the falls and head elsewhere.

I don't have a ton of things planned so far for 2014, but a few things to look forward to. I'm going to get tickets to Bryan Cranston's play on Broadway because it just has to be done.  I'm going for a long weekend in March up to Boston to eat my way through my beautiful city and watch some hockey.  Then my dear friend from Texas is coming to NYC for a long weekend also in March.  I'll be hitting up another Bruins vs. Rangers game the first weekend in March.  Look at that, Spring is shaping up nicely!  Trying to think positively and think ahead - anything to get me through my least favorite month of the year.

I already miss Matt Smith.

Time to give that Nespresso a test drive...

  • I miss Bali.

  • I can't stop going to see Star Trek: Into Darkness.  I just do not want to part with it, not even a little bit.

  • Matt Smith is leaving Doctor Who.  It pains me because i adore him in that role, but I suppose the time comes when you want to be known for something other than just that.  Still... *sniffle*

  • Already obsessed with the Man of Steel soundtrack.  I think the trailer editing and the track they chose for it is a little slice of perfect.

  • The Killing is back, and all is right in the world.

  • I bought myself a ticket for Zachary Levi's broadway show First Date.  I don't even care if it's awful, I just really want to go and see him sing on stage.  I'm prepared to be dazzled.  Next I have to get a Glass Menagerie ticket.  *checks lottery tickets*

  • I'm incredibly happy to have such a packed movie schedule over the next two months.  It will keep me distracted from life.

  • Roland Garros is already at the semi stage and I've only seen two matches.  Sad.

  • Target had the chibi Avengers toys for sale.  When I get paid I'm going back for them because some things aren't made to be left on a shelf.

  • Also, damn you, Target.

  • If you're not watching Veep, it's time to think about your life choices.

  • Almost done with the Netflix Arrested Development episodes. I thought they were hilarious. I don't think they should have added extra time in each show, because it did slow the pace, but for the most part i loved them!

  • I've mastered key lime pie.  I think my work for the day is done.

1-BALI 2013 204

So, Bali was a tremendously amazing trip!  The long flights over were half the fun, because we flew business class on Qatar and I have honestly never traveled so poshly in my life.  I can't believe people get to travel this way all the time! I mean, I got to basically lay in my seat that turned in to a bed, in provided jammies and watch the Hobbit while ordering warm cookies and champagne.  It was ridiiiiiiiiiiiiculous.  I loved every minute of it.

Bali was overwhelming to the senses - mostly in a good way.  With all of the prayer offerings, there is incense burning and flowers EVERYWHERE and it's beautiful, but you don't realize the lack of fresh air until you're looking for it.  I loved it.  There were monkeys outside of our villa, elephants to be played with, delicious food to eat and so many interesting sights to see.  Ubud is such a lovely, art-filled town.  We saw some massive waves at the ocean and I can see why Bali is a surfer's paradise.  I was just in awe at the countryside and the people and the colors.

It was a quick week and we saw a lot, but also relaxed a lot and just all in all had a great time.  I'm incredibly grateful that the experience was presented to me.

Now it's back to reality where nobody brings me warm rose-water towels or warm cookies. *sobs*

BUT it means it's time to dive into all the fun summer movies.  Tomorrow night is Star Trek and I want to jump out of my skin with excitementttttttttt!  I won't, since that would make for uncomfortable movie viewing but still.  I'm listening to the soundtrack preview on iTunes at the moment and it's sounding great.  FUNFUNFUN!  I think from now through the end of July there's something good to see every week.  *pops popcorn*

The Doctor Who finale is Saturday, the Killing starts up in a couple of weeks and Veep is back.  All is right in the world.

I'm not even sure what to say about Mexico, except that it was pure bliss.  It exceeded my expectations by about a billion. I loved every single second of it.  I've been to some nice beaches in my day but this was paradise.  Truly, paradise.  The place we stayed in was a fun boutique hotel with only four rooms, a cafe and bar, rooftop lounge and a lazy cat and dog to hang with.  The staff was so kind and it made the trip so much more wonderful.  I'm already planning my trip back in March.

The only reason I was able to tear myself away is that I won a trip to Bali!  It's business class on Qatar and a five star stay for a week in the lush jungle.  I am pretty excited.  The extras will probably mean I end up broke when I get home, but for a once in a lifetime experience, it's worth it.  Money can be remade, experiences cannot.

Other than that?  I've been watching a lot of the Hobbit again and again, and watching the Walking Dead come to a close.  Goodbye zombies, hello Madison Avenue.  Mad Men is back Sunday, yay!  I would probably take zombies over advertising but I won't complain...

Hope everyone is well!!!! xo

Once again I've been the world's worst livejournaler.  Livejournalist?  Anyway...

I'm sorry.  What has happened to my attention span? I feel like all I can get around to doing is reblogging things on tumblr.  I seriously need this to be the year that I write more.  I have to make this happen.  I'll never get a book written by reblogging.  I've been so far away from everyone and everything and I'm sorry for that.

I've still been in a winter cocoon over here.  In two weeks from today I'll be on a plane headed for sunshine and ten days of vacation.  I absolutely cannot WAIT.  I don't even remember what sun on my toes feels like.  It's not as though this has been a terrible winter snow wise or anything but the cold is never ending.  It's just really affected me worse this year than ever.  So I'm greaaaaaaaaaatly looking forward to some ocean breezes, bike rides, ruin tours, flip flops and the like.

I just need to pick out the perfect book to take with me now...

OH!  I did finally read The Fault in our Stars.  What an effortlessly amazing book it was.  If you haven't read it, I definitely suggest checking it out.  I now want to go back and read everything John Green has written.  I really love the way he strings words together.  I think my favorite line from the book was, "my thoughts are stars I can't fathom into constellations."

Love it.
