Mariners students are greeted by staff as they arrive on campus, at the gates, and at their classroom doors. These intentional daily interactions set the tone for a school where students feel safe, supported, and ready to learn.

The district will offer two elementary summer programs to current NMUSD students entering kindergarten through sixth grade in the 2026-27 school year.

Students in grades four through six serve as peer mentors during recess times by leading games, inviting participation, and resolving minor disagreements. In the process, they gain confidence, leadership, teamwork, and communication skills.

Small group instruction is a core part of Tier 1 teaching in both English language arts and math.

Killybrooke continues to integrate AVID strategies such as layered note-taking in everyday learning, from TK to sixth grade.
