Resizing backgrounds?

Does anyone know a way to make a backgound (either page or table) resize itself to fit the size of the browser window/table?

I have a non-repeating pattern that I want to use, it'll look fine if it's stretched, I just dont want to have to resize the thing myself if one table is bigger than another.
(does that make sense?)
