Birthday cards via web services

I am building an application for a customer, one of the things he wants is a an ability to send email birthday cards in an automated way. What I had thought of
is one of the various companies that does this must have a web service interface (SOAP etc). Has anyone else done this and if so what sites would you suggest I use (or avoid)
