Hi --

I'm new to this community, and I have a question... I'm not real sure what to search for on the net as far as the database I want, but here goes...

I'm going to start a fanclub for a band, but I want the site to have a part that's password protected for members, and within the protected section, I'd like to have a database available to members, listing names, locations, interests, eMail addresses, screen names, etc. I would like it to be searchable by said varaiables, but I'd also like members to be able to create a username and password that would let them edit a profile that they have on the site, and if possible, have the login/pw automatically log them into a forum. [that's not something i'm overly worried about, it's just a thought.]

If anyone knows of any scripts, programs, databases, etc that would satisfy these requirements, I'd be forever thankful. I realise I'm probably going to be getting into mySQL, PHP, etc, and I haven't had much experience with either of the two, so something that's relatively easy to a beginner would be nice, or any ideas of something that would halfway help me out in getting a well developed site like that underway would be extremely appreciated.
