Web Design - How to Start?

My current website, http://www.hypertony.co.uk has the same design for the past 2 to 3 years or more and I fancy a new change.

But, I'm stuck. I don't know what style to go for. Hell, I don't even know how to start!

How do you build up the idea of a good style for your website? What do you do? Draw? Write down some ideas?
