Firefox hogging memory? Try disabling Firebug
Every so often Firefox gets extremely slow on my PC. I check the task manager, and sure enough, FF is using half a gig of memory. Yikes!
I found out that there are problematic Firefox extensions, such as the Google Toolbar and Firebug, that may cause such problems.
I set up Firebug so that it is disabled by default, and then I add any site I am working on to Firebug's list of Allowed Sites. So far, this seems to have improved performance and reduced the amount of memory that Firefox uses.
