@sibertJul 27.2024 — Best practice is to think small. In every aspect.

Small footprint. Small images (AVIF). Small VPS. The smaller, the faster.

Normally (not always) a framework and CMS (WordPress, Drupal etc) is like a caravan. You need to drive around with all stuff even if you never will use it. Do pick only the stuff you need. Hence I avoid frameworks.

Test your site with http://pagespeed.web.dev and follow all instructions.

And if you can manage to use a compiled language, your site will be significant faster. Harder to develop, but way faster.

After using Wordpress, PHP and Drupal, I decided to switch direction and use Go. Now my sites are measured to be about the double speed. And I can use smaller VPS to host the site = cheaper.

The speed will certainly affect SEO, but good content can be better.

Image@liberaloctoberNov 20.2024(updated) — To improve website load times and performance, focus on optimizing images, minimizing HTTP requests, and using browser caching. Compressing large files, leveraging content delivery networks (CDNs:), and enabling lazy loading for images and videos can drastically reduce page load times. It's also crucial to streamline the code by removing unnecessary plugins or scripts, and utilizing minification for CSS, HTML, and JavaScript. For SEO and user experience, faster load times are essential; search engines like Google prioritize fast-loading sites in rankings, and users are more likely to leave a page if it doesn't load within 3 seconds, which directly impacts bounce rates and conversions. For more details, you can explore resources like Google’s PageSpeed Insights or GTmetrix.

Image@davidlucus80Sep 09.2025 — Here’s the thing, performance is one of those areas where small fixes add up fast. Compress your images, lazy load what you can, cache aggressively, and don’t ship unused CSS or JS. It matters a lot for SEO because Google ties rankings to Core Web Vitals, but honestly it matters more for users. Nobody sticks around waiting for a slow site to wake up.

Oct 15.2025 — Improving website performance is crucial for both SEO and user experience. Fast-loading sites rank higher on Google and keep visitors engaged. Key best practices include optimizing images, minimizing plugins, using caching, compressing files, and choosing a reliable hosting service. Partnering with a web design company can also help fine-tune speed, performance, and overall site efficiency.
