Worth It

remnants of the past few years
trickled from my eyes,
each drop a tare uprooted.

i threw little crumbs called mistakes
in the trash but i heard them
whispered in my ear a few days later.

these whispers rehearsed in my mind
like a lullaby
and i almost fell asleep.

but a still small voice woke me up.
He referenced Romans 8
He reminded me
of Christ's irreversible sacrifice,
more powerful than
my irreversible mistakes.

He said
your worth
is not in what you do
but in what Christ has done for you,
so He's worth it
every sacrifice
every self-denial;
every time the flesh is crucified--
He's worth it all
and more.
