Red-Neck Camping

So I love to camp!  However this year I kinda complained to Bri that I am sick of sleeping on the ground in a tent!  Since life is so busy we don't want to buy a camper trailer and have it sit most of the year.  This is what my brilliant husband came up with.  Make beds in his snowmobile trailer!
Image
These are the awesome bunk beds he made the kids.  They fold up and down together and don't need to come out during the winter when he has his sled in there.   He made them to size to fit foam pads on and the kids just need to roll out their sleeping bags!

For us he took our old mattress and made a queen bed that also folds up against the wall for travel.  It is just amazing and we love it!
Image
He even made stairs to get in and out easier!
Image
The total cost of these him making these five beds?  You will never believe it!  About $14.00 in hinges and $40.00 in foam pads!  (he has lots of wood hanging around due to his many building projects)!  Man I am one lucky girl!

Gabbi's Surgery

So our little Gabbi Bo finally got big enough to have her bladder surgery!   This sounds horrible that we could be excited for this but we really don't like her on antibiotics every day.  Anyways  on June 16 we headed down to Primary Children's for surgery. It was supposed to be at 1:00 but was postponed until 4:30. For a little 2 year old who had not eaten since supper the night before she was a huge trooper.

We loved her anesthesiologist! He was kind of a grandpa. We were allowed to walk her to the elevator then he took her to surgery. We were thinking she would really panic but when we told her goodbye this doctor started barking like a dog! He asked Gabbi if she had heard the puppy, then he pulled her in a wagon into the elevator to go find the puppy! She was not worried at all just excited!

Gabbi had a hard time waking up from surgery and had a hard night with bladder spasms but was great the whole next day! We were told she would be in the hospital a minimum of 36 hours and we left in less than 24!

She recovered well, I had a hard time keeping the girl off the tramp! Once Brian removed her stents she was even better without "tubes in her bum" (which they were not, they were in her abdominal incision.

Gabbi got a stuffed "Tank, Tank out of the deal and was ready to go home and see her "kiddos". So grateful for all the prayers directed her way and glad to finally have it over with! No infections so far!!!

Warm River 2017

Another year of our family's all time favorite camping spot! Warm River! We tubed (a lot) fished and hiked Mesa Falls! This trip always seems to fly the quickest! It is the only one our kids always request each year!

Gid

This year I talked (really hard) to Gid about doing a 4-H class. He finally agreed but wanted to do the archery which of course was full. He finally agreed to do a rocket class. They build a rocket and then go and launch them. They launched twice and one went 250 feet and one was 500. He LOVED it! He took 2nd over all and is already talking about doing it again next year! He also entered his rocket in the fair and took a 1st place!

Gid also got his Webelos badge and arrow of light! We are so proud of him and even more thrilled we are DONE with Cub Scouts and their crazy cheers!

Birthdays!

This year Gid and Gracie decided to share a birthday cake (which is way easier for me)! They were surprised with a fun oreo cake and I loved it because I only had to make one and it was super easy. Halle also was easy again this year and is stuck on "rainbow cakes" I love that the cakes they are choosing are getting so much easier!

Gabbi's unlucky hands

So I blogged about a year ago about Gabbi getting stitches in her hand because it was pinched in the door and she broke a couple of fingers. Yup here we are again! Back in May Grace was pushing Gabbi on a handicapped swing. The swing twisted and her finger was pinched between the swing and the swing frame. It ripped the whole end of her finger completely off. We made Gid leave ball practice jumped in the van and headed to Logan. We literally dropped the kids off at the door at Tricia's house and went to the ER.

They ended up calling in Dr. Isom a plastic surgeon who had to try and stitch a mangled finger back on to her hand and hope it took and repaired itself. He did amazing! I have no clue how he made that thing look like a finger again!

The graft took and her finger looks so awesome today! No clue anything happened to it. By the next day Gabbi was her same old crazy self and climbing on anything including her dad with her "bandaid" Her friend Dax came and brought Gabbi a flower just for her! After a week we were able to take off the bandage (mostly because she kept taking it off) but this is what her finger looked like a week later. We joke with all her hand injury's she will grown up and be a hand surgeon!

Captain Kindness

ImageThis year our school is trying to advocate kindness! I love the idea!  They decided to choose one boy and one girl each walk of fame from a class and they get to dress up as a superhero and start the walk of fame!  The very first walk of fame this year Gracie was chosen as the first person to be captain kindness for their 5th grade class (this is voted on by the students...she was also the first elected class president this year)!  I don't have a picture since her teacher forgot to tell us she had been chosen and we did not go over.  This past week Gid was voted the 2nd student from their class to be Captain Kindness! He had every vote in the class except 3 (and one of those was a friend of Gid's who knew Gid hates being the center of attention and was nervous and because of that decided not to vote for him).  I am so glad that I have children who are noticed for being the kind of people that can always be counted on to be a friend!
