20 months later...

I might officially be the world's worst blogger. So it has now been over a year since my last post. Kane is now 20 months old and 2years isn't far away! In the past few months, Kane started daycare and LOVES it! This was a great relief to me since I hated uprooting him from his sitter whom he loved. It was a bit of a transition but he is totally acclimated now. In other news, I finally weaned him. It only took me 8 months longer than I expected but we are officially done with nursing. I just had to quit cold turkey finally. In retrospect, I am glad I had those extra months with him, but I am just as glad to be done now. I think *fingers crossed* that weaning may help the sleeping through the night situation. He did sleep all night last night and I just pray it continues this way.

As for Kane's waking hours, they are mostly spent talking, running, climbing on everything he shouldn't, talking, eating, singing, and talking some more. He is a total chatterbox...wonder who he gets that from? While the kid eats anything and everything, (again who does he get that from?) his favorite food is boobehwees (blueberries). His favorite song is Row Row Row Your Boat and Baa Baa Blacksheep is a close second. He doesn't watch much tv, but when he gets to it has to be Handy Manny...Chris and I often catch each other singing the songs long after the tv is off. Well that pretty much brings you up to date on all things Kane for now. Enjoy some pictures...

Where does the time go?

I cannot believe that it has been almost 6 months since Kane came to join our family. It amazes me how 6 months can seem so short and so long at the same time. Kane has been growing so fast and as of December 4, he weighed 17lbs and was 26.5 inches long. Chris and I can't wait to see how big he will measure at his next appointment in February. In other developments, since Christmas, Kane has begun to roll over from his tummy to his back (still working on back to tummy) and to sit pretty well too. He also has gotten his first tooth--well it is working its way in but has already broken most of the way through.
Speaking of Christmas, our first Christmas as a family of three was wonderful! We woke up on Christmas morning (well Kane and I woke up and then waited for Daddy to wake up) and opened presents before going to Grammy and Grandpa's for more presents and family time. Then we headed to Austin for more Christmas celebration with Grannycut and Pop, Uncle Robby, Aunt Desirie, cousin Robby, Uncle Jason, and Aunt Sarah. Let's just say Kane definitely got spoiled with presents and love. I can only imagine that next Christmas will be even better as Kane will be more aware of all that is going on.
Now that I have a new laptop, I will try to update this blog more regularly. Chris and I hope you all had wonderful holidays and wish you all the best in this new year!

Kane is here...

Kane arrived at 12:06 am July 23rd after 13 hours of labor which included 2 hours of pushing. He weighed 8lbs 12 oz and was 21in long. He had his head turned a little which is why he took so long to come out. Pushing him out was probably the hardest physical thing I have ever done but oh so worth it. I didn't say a thing for the whole two hours I pushed as I put all my energy into pushing. As soon as he came out, I said "Oh my God I feel so much better!" Chris was a wonderful labor partner and so supportive. Even the doctor and nurses commented about how great he was and said he should teach classes to other dads-to-be. We decided to leave the hospital on Friday since we figured we would get more rest at home. Grannycut and Pop have ben staying with us and been a tremendous help! Kane is a great eater and pretty good sleeper so far. We hope that continues. So far we love being parents even if we don't get to sleep as much. Here are some pictures from the hospital and first days home...

Tick tick tick....

So I am beginning to feel like a bomb with no visible countdown. I could blow at anytime. Sorry it has been awhile since I updated, but we have been super busy getting ready for Kane and lately all I want to do is sleep. The nursery is pretty much done and the car seat base is installed so now we just have to wait for the little man to make his appearance. I have been seeing the Doctor every week, but there hasn't been much change. I have dialated to 1cm and am 50% effaced, but Kane is still high so he probably won't show up by his due date. At our appointment next Monday, we will discuss with the doctor our options and possible induction. Last Monday, she estimated that he already weighs 8lbs. Here are some updated belly shots and nursery pictures to enjoy...

Where did the time go?

I cannot believe that this little guy is going to be joining our crazy life in about 8 weeks! This pregnancy is going by so fast. Since I posted last, we have pretty much finished the nursery (paint and furniture), and had another 3d ultrasound. Man our little guy is a chunk! Also, we have discovered that not only does he like to suck his thumb, but since he always has his foot by his face, he likes to suck his big toe sometimes too. I am trying to explain to him that he will have to let go of his foot long enough to be born or we both are in trouble. Physically, I am feeling great but a little tired. I think Chris and I are both ready to get to meet our son, whom we already can tell is super cute. But you can judge for yourself...

New Pictures of Kane

So, today was a big day as far as baby stuff goes. At 3pm we had our 2nd 3-D ultrasound. This time, Grammy (Sandy) and Grampa (Bob) were in attendance as well. Kane has definitely plumped up since our last visit. He is so cute and looks like Chris! He has Chris' lips, nose, and feet (yes they are already looking pretty large). He is still a shy guy so most of the time he had his arm up in front of his face, but we managed to get some good shots of him anyway. I think my favorite is of him sucking his thumb (gee where would he get that from?). Also, we finally ordered our crib and dresser for the nursery. Thanks to a coupon from Babies R Us it was much cheaper than we thought it would be. Yay for saving some money!! Enjoy the new pics... Image

Last week of the 2nd trimester...

Okay so according to some sources the 3rd trimester starts at 27 weeks which is next Wednesday for us. I cannot believe how fast time is going by! I think this realization and perhaps some hormones have kicked my nesting instinct into gear. Now I am not walking around the house trying to clean everything...but more just very anxious to get things settled. We haven't even started the nursery and I am itching to begin. I am excited that we should be ordering our furniture some time in the next 2 weeks and that is satisfying some of the urge to nest for now. I am also finding that I have a strong desire to shop, not just for Kane but some stuff for mama as well. Hmmm...can I blame that on hormones too? Oh well I am including some new belly shots (26 weeks 3 days) in this post, so enjoy!!Image
