Wow

So this week in review:

  • BTS released their new MV and concept photos.

  • Lady Leshurr released a new video/track that was pretty fire
  • LEMONADE – BEYONCE, enough said. The entire album/music video was A JOURNEY. I laughed, I cried, it moved me Bob. Really, it deserves an entire post just to itself. One when I can talk about it without getting caught up in my feelings and become an excited awe-struck mess. All the layers, all the tea, all the love. Amazing, just amazing.

  • SEVENTEEN released their new comeback music video and it is so cute and wonderful. I love it. The entire concept is great so far. I can’t wait to see the rest. Really sweet. They’re great as usual.
  • And, perhaps the greatest, yet saddest news of all week, the death of Prince. I still don’t want to believe it. Another great artists gone it what feels to be too soon. So many amazing people we’ve lost. *sighs* I’m not ready for the next one.

All in all this week has been a ride. “I laughed, I cried, it moved me, Bob.” Truly a fitting quote. I’m excited for next week. Heck, I’m excited for the rest of the year with an intro like this. Not even half way through (yet) and so much already has happened. I really feel like something big is just around the corner, for myself, for my favourite artists, for the world. Who knows, maybe it’s just my good mood and readiness talking, but I will will that mess into fruition.

Also BTS and SEVENTEEN are coming to NYKCON, not to mention MAMAMOO and Ailee to name a few I’m excited for. It would be great if I could go, so I’m going to will that into existence too.

Man, I’m just really feeling a lot right now, even as I type this. It’s been “a thing” almost every day this week. It still all feels so overwhelming to think about. I can’t help but feel like I’ll be talking to my kids about all these happening one day, even if it’s just in passing and the “importance” has diminished over time. Let me take this moment to thank all the amazing artists out there doing their thing and sharing their stories with us. Thank you for your bravery, your honesty, your strength. For inspiring us over decades. For reminding us of our own humanity and worth. I love all forms of art, but something about music  in particular has always spoken the loudest to me. It just fills the soul with so much. Joy, anger, sadness, pain, excitement…This year really has been great (for me at least) music wise. I think I say this after every post I make, but I really am excited for what’s next.

Thank you so much for sharing your hard work with us. Thank you so much for you openness and vulnerability. So much hard work goes into creation. To all you artists out there, no matter how “big” or “small” you are. Hobbyist, professionals. Your’e doing some good work. You make the word better for it.

Exciting Developments

So yesterday BTS posted the first music video for their comeback. Honestly, I’m still feeling very excited about this new release. The song is great, the video is great, everything is just looking great so far.

I’ll admit, I was a bit worried when I heard that they were going to have another comeback this May, I mean, Most Beautiful Moments in Life prt 1 and 2 are both amazing albums with awesome music videos to match, but I haven’t always been a big fan of their work and am used to getting into a new band or soloist only for their next drop to be lackluster in comparison to what made me interested in them in the first place.

Though the over feel of this song is different from many of the other songs on the last two albums, it’s still a nice addition to the whole series and I’m excited to see how this will close off. I almost don’t want it to end, but I’m too eager for the future to hold myself to that. Once this album comes out it’ll be the end to the “Most Beautiful Moments in Life” series. I can’t wait to see what BTS will do next.

A Month Old Interview

Just wanted to share this. I’ve been on a youtube music kick lately and watching a lot more interviews than I usually do. I really liked what Keke had to say in this one and thought I should share. Her words definitely touched on some things I’ve been thinking about these past few weeks and dealing with. Very inspiring. I’m so glad to see her doing well and being able to get out there and share her own truth.

I think as an artist, one of the most difficult things to do is be open to putting yourself out there in the first place, no matter how young or old you are, just getting started always seems to be the hardest part, and then keeping up with that and not letting fear stop you from seeing where your journey in your artistry takes you. It’s always nice to watch people grow in who they are and see what they can become. Ironically just a few days ago I got the Jump In! soundtrack because I was feeling nostalgic. She was great in that and even has a couple songs on the album. It’s been so interesting and exciting watching her career progress and I’m so hopeful to see what else she’ll do, not just as a fan of her work, but as a young black woman who enjoys watching other black women succeed and do well in what they strive to do.

This interview just made me think about a lot of different things and her fun energy and joy really brought it all together. I didn’t mean to write so much, I mostly just wanted to share this video. XD I hope it can inspire some other people as well.

Ya’ll, Look at This

Hamburger helper just dropped a mixtape. I saw a post earlier today talking about memes from the US and “why are so many of them commercials?”. How ironic that I’d see this later before the day ended. (Literally 9 minutes away) I can’t believe this.

It’s not that bad either. Oh capitalism. The weird things you brew. Or should I say, cook up?

I wonder which company is now working on their disstrack?

Wow

Just found out Minzy left 2NE1. Am I surprised? Yes. Should I be? No. And I wouldn’t be surprised if 2NE1 disbanded sooner than later, as much as that would be disappointing.

I used to be such a fan of 2NE1. They were one of the first Kpop groups I listened to after getting introduced to their music by a friend and a friend of my sister. I eventually stopped listening to a lot of Kpop and music in general so I fell out of step with the group ongoings and their newer songs, but I’m still surprised.

It’s weird seeing things you liked so much as a child go away or change. I mean, “I Am the Best” is iconic and “I Love You” was my most played song for the longest time.

Change is good though. From change we get growth. I can’t wait to see what sort of music 2NE1 will put out now and I hope Minzy goes on to do better and greater things, whatever that entails.

Howdy!

The first blog post is always the most exciting. How about a little about the blogger and what this blog will be about?

My name is Cass and I’m 20 years old,. I’m a writer, and I also happen to paint, make pixel art, and sing a wee bit. I love art, all forms of it, and this particular blog is dedicated to the more musical and lyrical forms of it.

I plan to share some of my favourite music, performances, and a few reviews of them. Currently I’ve been listening to a lot of Kpop, and whatever interesting playlists I come across on 8tracks which could be a variety of things (usually instrumental). Last year I got into a lot of new music and this year I’m pretty excited for whatever new sounds I’ll be discovering as well. I can’t wait to share them all with you as well! I hope to have a lot of fun with this blog and I hope you’ll have fun along with me.
