Don't cry for me Argentina
I just spent a week in Argentina! I know that now I am home they won't cry for me but I couldn't resist. I went to visit a dear, sweet, wonderful friend and I miss her already. Thanks for putting up with a sidekick for the week. Here are some pics of the trip.
At a tango show weren't allowed to take pictures so this is what you get to see.
We spent a day in Uruguay at an old Portugese settlement. We watched the sunset from the dock it was beautiful and peaceful.
none of these logs were tied down, it made us a bit nervous!
This is a house along one of the river tributaries. They have bus/boats that drop the people off that live along the river.
Evita's tomb (every tourist must go here, thanks to Madonna)
At La Boca (the birth place of Tango)
The Pink House (Like our White House)
Estancia Santa Susana

Snow Day!
When I was younger one of the best days would be to wake up for school and discover it had snowed and it was enough for a snow day. I would climb back in to my warm bed and sleep a couple more hours.
Things are a bit different now. With the weather technology snow days come the night before when the first flake begins to fall. So my children go to bed knowing they don't need to wake early to get ready for school. On some occasions we haven't received the amount of snow that was expected and we are left at home with squirly children and nothing to sled in. Does this take away from the magic of a snow day? Maybe a little but these disappointing not snow days always bring an unexpected break and there is nothing to stop us from making a nice warm breakfast like chocolate pancakes with chocolate syrup and sipping hot cocoa.
Yesterday we had our first snow day of this school year and yeah there was snow and sledding and cold ears and noses. What fun! Today we have our second snow day of the school year. It hasn't snowed anymore and it isn't icy but they say it is too cold. I think it is silly but it was nice to stay in my warm bed a bit longer and let the children wake up one at a time and come downstairs for a cup of hot cocoa.

Oops, I did it again!
In the summer of 2008 we added a lab puppy to our family. He was a bit of a handful. I proclaimed that we would never have another dog after Riley was gone. Unexpectedly in September at 15 months old Riley died of cancer. Sad day.
After three months of pressure, yesterday I did it again...
And surprised my children with a new puppy.

Welcome home Fenway. (8 weeks)

What you have all been waiting for
I know that you have all been checking your computers hourly to see what I did with that "free" time on the first day of school. I have finally had a moment to make that happen for you.
I made jam! This is your picture tutorial on jam making.
Ingredients:

Mash berries and add sugar

Mix together pectin and water and boil

Combine with berry/sugar mixture and stir
She woke up soon after I wrote my last blog but was a great little helper.
When it looks like this

pour into jars

cover with lids

and voula you have jam

YUMMY!

What's that I hear!
What's that I hear! Nothing. It is quite at my house. It is the first day of school and 6 of the 7 are gone and the only one left at home is still sleeping. Ahhh.
What to do now? Do I dig in and get things done that have been pushed aside all summer or do I just sit back and enjoy the silence, decisions.
