I had the strangest thought today that I might be dead.

This week has been odd--I feel like I'm a little numb and and kind of stupid. It's like everything is moving in slow motion and a little weird.

I think I've not been getting enough sleep, so Imma try a little more sleep tonight.

But yeah--I was driving and felt like I was 100% zoned out, but that nothing bad could ever happen again. I really hope I'm not dead, just weird. :)

Finally have a race this weekend. So excited about it. I really want to run the whole thing this time. I've been obsessing about it a little.

If I am dead, the afterlife is boring.

Tomorrow is the end of week 4 of my half marathon training program. 4 more weeks until I'm ramped up on mileage! Then speed!

I'm up to running 4.5 miles on the week days, doing 50 minutes of biking on Saturdays, and my long run on Sunday should be up to 7 miles, though I've not been doing them for various reasons.

Between the pole dancing, the running, and the biking, I'm guessing that I'm burning off about 1,700 calories a week. I've also been eating healthier and haven't had any sodas, just water and Gatorade.

As a result, I'm down almost 10lbs. Yay!

Honestly, my biggest bit of joy is from the running. I'm totally excited that I can run so far. My goal is to get my weekly runs up to 6 miles in about 60 minutes before work 3 days a week, then a long run of 10-15 miles on the weekends. Keeping up, of course, with both the dancing and other cross training.

I got new running shoes and new boots yesterday. The shoes are Asics in a nice wide shoe with a grippy bottom. I'm hoping they last until at least January, so I can get new shoes before the half in March and break them in.

Ended up signing up for the 5k on the 21st. I was going to skip August due to the heat, but I've missed having a race to look forward to. So, that one, and then the 1mile then the 10 mile at the end of September. I'm hoping to have the mileage and some speed by the 10 miler, but we will see how it all shapes up.

Managed to get jury duty on the 24th--I've never been on a jury, so I'm kind of excited.

We're heading out to Vanhoof's engagement party in a little bit. I'm glad for him. S'weird. All my single friends are getting hitched; all my hitched friends are having babies, and everyone else is in limbo. It's contributing, I think, to all my 'OH NO YOU'RE KNOCKED UP' dreams. :P

Oooh, time to get outta here. :)

It's been a while, I think, since I really posted.

Work is going awesome--I'm over at ReverbNation doing everyone's 'irritating tasks', lol. In reality, it's general computer work--lots of MySQL, lots of fielding support requests, a little bit on servers, a lot of sending email...some scripting. It's not what I thought the job was going to be, but that's okay. I feel like I'm starting to settle into a routine, which is fine.

I did spend the past week working on an irritating MySQL query. One of the big guys wanted a set of info that kept changing. It was basically like trying to catch an oiled up piglet with your hands tied behind your back. We ended up getting him all his info, but every time I passed anyone working on the data set, it felt like they wanted something else. Heh.

I miss doing support--I didn't think I would as much as I do. Makes me wish the other support job I was looking at had panned out.

Christian's doing great at his job. They are talking about sending him off on another trip, which I might not be able to go on due to my job. Hoping I can get a couple days off any join him for part of it. Would be amazing--they send him to awesome places! This one may be Cali!

The animals are doing well--when we went to Florida, the stupid dogs got in a fight and really fucked each other up. Cain almost had to have an ear amputated. :( They are all better now, and Cinder got his balls whacked.

I'm doing okay with the running. My half-marathon training program started this week, though I missed one day. Tomorrow is my first 'long run' of 4mi. I'm planning on running 4mi, even if I have to walk a little between them. Every week, a little farther!

For the program, I need some cross training, so I've finally taken the leap and signed up for some classes I've wanted to take for a while--POLE DANCING! Hahaha. I know, seriously. It's awesome. I went to a 'teaser' class and we did a lot of amazing (sexy!) stretching, then learned a few basic pole moves. We learned the pole spin (his is where you twist your body in a full circle as you're walking around the pole), a half pole spin (like the full, but you stop half way through so your back is on the pole), a fireman spin (this is a true spin on the pole and SO much fun!), a pole hold (where you slide down the pole), and some other neat things.

The best part about it was how everything was done 'sexy'. You got down on the floor for the floor work in a sexy way, you got up sexy, even the stretches were done with and emphasis on sexy! I felt really awesome during it and SO SORE afterwards.

I'm taking the Yoga Flirt class next week, then the first week of August starts Pole 1.0! I'm really excited for it. I love the idea of sexy fitness.

My next set of races are in September. August is just TOO hot. Sept. has a 1mi and a 10mi. Hopefully, I'll do well enough in my half training that I can do the 10mi with no huge issues.

I'm really excited.

This is kind of bringing together a lot of things I've wanted to be and do for a long time. I'm really glad I have supportive friends and a supportive husband. I've been really grateful for him in the past few months--he puts up with a lot of my shit and really encourages me to go out and do things that surprise even me.

I mean, who else would think it's awesome that your wife is taking pole dancing classes? Hahaha.

This was my first ever 5K! I haven't finished the C25K program yet, but I really wanted to 'test the waters' with a race and the SkirtChaser sounded really hilarious and fun. The race started with the women (in running skirts that we got as part of the entry fee) running off, then the men starting 3 minutes later.

Race!Collapse )

Overall, this was a really amazing and fun race. I loved the skirt and will be wearing it as much as I can.

I can't wait for my next 5K!

WOOOO!

I got a new job! Fucking finally. It feels like it's been forever--though, it really hasn't been that long.

The job is, weirdly enough, working with one of Ryan's friends over at ReverbNation. I'll be doing general tech shit. It really sounds like they have a lot of people doing a lot of things, and they need those people to do less, so I get to do a lot of their things. Server upkeep, testing, documentation, debugging, 2nd tier support, marketing e-mails, account management, etc etc etc.

Should be pretty interesting--I'm expecting a very high-pressure intense environment that's sink-or-swim-oh-hold-this-1-ton-weight-while-you-are-at-it!

But, I'm excited. It is in Durham, so that'll be a bit of a trek up 40 the wrong way.

It's a jeans-and-tshirts sort of vibe, so Imma need to get some new pants, and maybe some cute shorts. I have a lot of nicer things to wear, but I want some cute casual things.

Hopefully, after Orlando (YAY!), I'll be able to go and pick up some new clothes for work. Not really because I need them, but because I want them. And nothing makes your first day of work better than sexy clothes.

Excited about Orlando--I'm going to hang out with Lori, and we're hoping to hit Universal and SeaWorld. I'm also going to get another tattoo to celebrate the adventure! I realize that I made the appointment for the day we are leaving, so I have to call and get that changed to the day before we leave. Bleh. I had to call twice yesterday cause I gave them the wrong week, so I think I'm going to wait until Monday to do it and claim our flight was changed.
