Wide Lines version 0.9.5: New features
New features: * Tag page support added (list and cloud formats).
The tags page (available on all journals at http://www.livejournal.com/users/exampleuser/tag) lists all of the tags currently in use. Wide Lines offers this page in two formats: a simple list, similar to the default style provided by most styles, and a tag cloud based on forresto's interpretation of del.icio.us's layout. The tag cloud shows relative tag use with sizes and colors (the colors are customizable: defaults are violet, blue, green, yellow, orange, and red) and provides most browsers with a tooltip over each tag showing the number of uses.
Bug fixes: * Recent comments link only shows when the page is viewed by its owner. * Reply pages now show the icon bar instead of action text.
To upgrade or use Wide Lines as your style: The instructions for installing version 0.9.4 may be applied again for version 0.9.5 (the "current code" link is now 0.9.5). If you use this method of specifying the Wide Lines layout directly, you have already been upgraded.
All themes created for version 0.9 or 0.9.2 will continue to work in this version.
The following fuctions have been added: * TagsPage::print_body * TagsPage::lay_css The following properties have been added to the wizard interface: * tags_linear * text_tag_uses * text_tags_title * text_tags_header * text_tags_link * text_tags_manage * color_tag_one * color_tag_first * color_tag_second * color_tag_third * color_tag_fourth * color_tag_max The following functions have changed: * Page::lay_nav * ReplyPage::print_body

New features for Wide Lines
Version 0.9.2 added friend coloring to the friends page in the form of a double line to replace the single dashed line between subject and entry and between entry and mood/music/comments. The property friends_usecolors controls whether this feature is used or not; it defaults to used.
This version also adds control over the appearance of this line in these locations and in all other locations where this lighter line is used (in the links list or in the calendar, for example). Valid settings for border_thin are "dashed", "solid", and "dotted", with "dashed" as the default to keep existing behavior.
Features yet to come: * Produce valid 4.01 Transitional HTML (chief problems: use of <h2> as a block instead of inline and use of valign="center" formatting) * Add cursors * Different backgrounds for the recent entries, friends, and entry pages (and other pages as well?) * Support for imagemap backgrounds and corresponding suppression of navigation links * Background image/color selector for LiveJournal's palimg feature

How to add a sidebar image to Wide Lines
1. Log in and go to your customize journal page. 2. Click "Add customizations" or "Edit customizations". 3. Select the "Background" tab at the top of the customizations page. 4. Under "URL of image to use as background", select "Override default" and enter the URL of your sidebar image in the text box which appears. The image must be hosted on a website which allows remote linking from livejournal.com. 5a. For a single image which remains stationary at the side of the journal, set "Fixed or scrolling background image" to "Fixed in place" and set "Tiled (normal) or single-picture background image" to "Shown once". 5b. For a repeating pattern down the left side which scrolls with the journal, set "Fixed or scrolling background image" to "Scrolling" and set "Tiled (normal) or single-picture background image" to "Tiled vertically". 6. Under "Number of pixels wide the left margin should be", enter the width of the image, plus any padding you would like to add between the right edge of the image and the left edge of the journal. 7. Set "Number of pixels tall the top margin should be", "Number of pixels wide the whole journal should be (0 for full-width journal)", and "Number of pixels tall the whole journal should be (0 for full-height journal)" to 0, the default. (Changing the width of the whole journal is used to shift the journal into a fixed-width column inside of a defined area on the background image. Leaving it at zero allows the journal's width to resize as needed.) 8. Click the "Save" button at the bottom of the page when finished. Your customizations are not applied to your journal until this button is clicked.
Suggestion: Make sure that the edge color of your image is the same as the background color of your journal ("Page background color", under the "Colors" tab). This will blend your side image into the color behind your entries.
