What is Debian?
The Debian name is used for several related things:
The Debian Project. This a community of individuals working to produce and support a free operating system. You can read more at http://www.debian.org/intro/philosophy.
The operating system created by the project is also called Debian. Debian GNU/Linux is the officially supported version. Debian GNU/kFreeBSD and Debian/GNU Hurd are also available, but not (yet) officially part of Debian.
Links
the wiki FrontPage is a good starting point.
https://www.debian.org is the official home page
Do not link to this page: It is meant to help people who "got lost" in the search engine find the FrontPage.
