I have always pronounced “Xalguth” as “Shal-guth”
As for who they are, Xalguth is the sole object of worship on Ornthon. An omniscient, omnipotent, being.
Depictions of Xalguth even on Ornthon are conflicting. On the Intertidal and Photic zones of Ornthon, depictions of Xalguth heavily feature elements like volcanic rock, lava, and fire. However if Xalguth is ever wounded, they would bleed all the matter the vast galaxy is made of. Causing it to expand further, as opposed to blood. Aphotic inhabitants liken Xalguth more to a divine deep sea creature. They depict Xalguth as a colossal cross between a hydra, an axolotl, and a lobster.
Xalguth resides on Ornthon in what’s referenced as the Forbidden Zone (translation). Unfortunately, it’s impossible and perilous to navigate. (Best way I can describe my mental image of it is kinda like the backrooms, but a volcanic wasteland.) Only Xalguth’s Prevailing Chosen and divine emmisary, a single Ornthonian deemed the “Xujjwoi (Kwu-Jo-oi)” is granted passage. At the beginning of their tutelage they receive an audience with Xalguth. Egen’s father currently occupies this position.

P.S: Along the Forbidden Area, the coastline changes every few minutes thanks to volcanic and seismic activity. Still, it draws a lot of attention due to the bioluminescent water. While frowned upon, many lovers and young ornthonians trespass to swim along the waters at night since you light up like a christmas tree. The colour also varies from person to person but nobody can pinpoint the cause. So, those who are heavily superstitious, consider their fortunes based on the various colours.
