WITTA (Writing In / To / Through Art) brings together artists, writers, practitioners and researchers whose work resides at the crossovers between writing and art.
The name WITTA reflects our interest in relationships between writing and art that are interrogative, relational, enquiring, speculative, performative, uncertain and sometimes just plain fun. We are drawn to work that actively and experimentally considers how work developed at the intersection of words and art allows for creative, recreative, uncreative, wayward and imaginative thinking.
We like to share our research and practice — often as work-in-progress — to spark future activities.
If you’d like to get involved, please contact: info[at]witta.org
WITTA was founded by Lizzie Lloyd and is co-run with Kit Poulson Senior Lecturers in Fine Art / Art & Writing at UWE Bristol.
Sara O'Brien is a new addition to our roster of WITTA researchers and is our 2025-2026 research assistant.
WITTA is supported by UWE Bristol and is part of VAMP (Visual And Material Practices Research Group).
