Ever wondered how to form a union at work?

This EWOC training series will help you and your co-workers build your union from the ground up. You’ll hear from experienced organizers and people like you who are organizing their own workplaces. In small discussion groups with participants across the US and beyond, you'll practice connecting with your co-workers, discover what you need to take strategic action around common concerns, and prepare for what the boss has in store.

This is a four-part series of presentations and small group discussions. We encourage you to join ready to participate! In 90-minute weekly sessions, we will learn how workers can unite to address issues at their workplace and begin the process of unionization.

1. Developing Leadership

Learn how to use a chart, assess co-workers, and build a team to organize with. The organizing committee is the backbone of any organizing effort, and the chart is the best way to track your campaign.

2. The Organizing Conversation

Learn how to talk and listen to your co-workers to learn what they care about, as well as how to assess and get them to support the campaign. Plus, learn the importance of getting to know your co-workers before you organize.

3. The Arc of the Campaign

Learn what steps an organizing committee takes to build their campaign and how to choose demands that are popular, targets that have decision making power, and escalation tactics that build confidence among your co-workers.

4. Inoculation and the Boss Campaign

Learn how to prepare yourself and your co-workers for the boss’ counter-campaign, why inoculation is critical, and how to stick to your positive message, not the boss’.
