One morning I woke up and realised that I want to build windsor chairs. This is my latest, and learning how to make them has kept me busy and leaving less time to photography. Yesterday I combined the two and made this tintype.
A few more Nässjö pictures
Östarp

As I have been busy making collodion negatives these three are my first salt prints from calotype negatives this summer. Taken at Östarp, a lovely place close to where I live.
The calotypes were all more or less underexposed, then overdeveloped to compensate and allowed to fog a bit on their backs. Thus their grainy appearance. Full plate size and gold toned salt prints.
Snart vernissage

I got an assignment from the town of Nässjö to make an exhibition as they are celebrating it being 100 years since the town was founded, and they wanted new old-looking pictures to show.
I have made 15 albumen prints from collodion glass negatives plus four aluminotypes, they are off to the framer today.
Opening will be on the 30th of August at Nässjö railway station.
Växthuset

An albumen print made from calotype paper negative following Baldus instructions. The calotype and the print is in full plate size and gold toned in borax toner.

The Cloisters, Lacock Abbey

At the beginning of August I spent a weekend with the Calotype Society in Lacock where Henry Fox Talbot lived. It was a very strange feeling to be at the home of one of the inventors of photography and actually make calotypes just like he did, and to see scenes I recognize from his pictures.
This is a gold toned salt print from a Baldus calotype (yes, I cheated, I didn’t follow Talbot’s instructions) in whole plate size.
Collodion workshop

I am booked to do a wet plate collodion demo/workshop at Landskrona Foto Festival on the 24th of August.
It will be a few bits about early techniques – daguerreotypes and calotypes – and then wetplate with a demo of the process and one or two hands-on practices for the participants. Maximum 10 persons and it is possible to book if you click here.
I will also be part of an exhibition at the festival together with my friends in the Sunny f16 photographer collective. And there will also be lot of other exhibitions and workshops and lectures.
The picture above is a half plate-ish salt print from a collodion negative with the usual gold toning.
Lilla Södergatan No 6, Lund

This one is taken very near where I took my previous post, but in the opposite direction and a few meters to the side. Baldus calotype in whole plate size and printed on albumen paper. And the print did spend some time in the gold toner.
