OUR KAUPAPA
Auckland University Medical Students Association (AUMSA) is a student-run association that has been supporting and representing University of Auckland medical students since its inception in 1968.
Our vision is to enhance and support our medical students through every step of their medical school journey. We aim to empower medical students through mentorship, social, and support initiatives, advocating for issues and concerns raised by our medical students.
Academic Excellence
We empower medical students to succeed by providing academic support, resources, and opportunities to enhance clinical skills.
Our initiatives help bridge the gap between classroom learning and practical application, while also advocating for improvements in teaching and assessment.
Wellbeing & Equity
We prioritise student wellbeing and are committed to fostering an inclusive environment for all.
Through dedicated representation and funding support, we champion equity, celebrate diversity, and ensure every student feels seen, supported, and valued.

We build a strong sense of community by creating opportunities for students to connect, collaborate, and unwind.
From campus to clinical placements, we help students form lasting relationships and stay engaged throughout their medical journey.

AUMSA is led by a passionate team of elected student volunteers from all years of the medical programme. From class reps to site reps, each member brings unique insight and dedication to support our community across Tāmaki Makaurau and beyond.

Our work is centred on supporting medical students academically, socially, and personally. We create spaces for connection, advocate for student needs, and help shape a more inclusive, vibrant, and empowered student experience.
