Christmas!

We enjoyed a wonderful Christmas break.  We were sad Matt had to go back to work but it is nice to get back into a routine.  We celebrated Christmas with my family on Christmas Eve and then spent Christmas Day with Matt's family.  It was nice to relax and enjoy spending time with our families.  Santa went all out this year and Matt and I got a laptop- it is fun!  Matt also gave me an Apple Cookie Jar which I am very excited to fill up after my Christmas sugar high goes down.  McKay got all sorts of toys, books, and clothes, but he was mostly interested in the wrapping paper and boxes...  McKay is crawling now and NEVER stops moving- and I mean never.  He squirms around even when he sleeps.  Here are some pictures from our Christmas- notice how I never got a picture with McKay looking at the camera and smiling...

Time to Child-Proof

It is officially time to child-proof our house.  McKay can't crawl quite yet, but he has mastered diving and rolling to get where he wants to go.

Laundry Basket Adventures!

Who knew that a laundry basket could be so much fun? It is officially McKay's favorite toy. It has holes for your fingers, you can pull yourself up on it, you can hide underneath it, you can eat the sides, and best of all if you butter up Daddy really good he will give you rides in it!

I was folding the laundry and McKay was poking his fingers through the holes when he decided that he would try to pull himself up to it, but the idea backfired and it flipped over on him. I thought he would get scared and cry, but no he just grinned and loved watching me through the holes. Later that night, we were again folding laundry (it is a never ending thing) and I went in the other room for a minute. I came back and Matt had put McKay in the basket with his monkey Stripes and a pillow and was pulling him around the room. At first he was pretty hesitant and held on tight. But after a while he decided it was fun and he was loving his new toy. He loved it so much it took us half the night to calm him down and convince him it was time for bed! But after all the excitement, he slept wonderful last night!

McKay loves to put in his pacifier himself, but he usually puts it in upside down- it is the cutest thing!

Busy October

We have been off vacationing every weekend so far this month- it has been crazy fun! We went to St. George with my parents and saw AIDA at Tuachan (which was so good!). Then we went to the Rowley Reunion up Spanish Fork Canyon. And this past weekend I went to Park City with Margaret, my sister-in-law Amanda, and Margaret's sisters. We shopped and talked and had a fun relaxing time. It was the first time I left McKay over night and it was wonderful for both of us. Matt and McKay had a grand time playing catch and watching sports.

McKay is officially 6 months old today. Amazing how time flies huh? He is all smiles and just wants to play and do whatever everyone else is doing. We love him and although it has only been 6 months since he was born, I wonder what I ever did without him.

Here are a few pictures of our adventures the past few weeks.

McKay loved being on his Dad's shoulders- it was a whole new world from up high. [Notice the BYU blue outfits for Gameday Saturday...]

Image
My little boy finally fits in overalls! I love little boys in overalls, but McKay hasn't fit into his until this week (well they are still a little big, but it is close enough for me!) He looked very handsome if I say so myself.

Kenzie, this picture is for you of all the fish we saw in the pond at the Rowley Retreat. I thought you and Brooklyn would like the fishies. They were jumping all over and putting on a show for us.

Happy Sitter

McKay is now sitting up all by himself (until he tries to reach for something, and then he tips over....). He is so proud of his new accomplishment!

Beautiful Fall!

What a beautiful area we live in! We went up Payson Canyon this week for family night and hiked the Grotto. I kind of went camera crazy but it was so pretty and colorful I couldn't resist---here are just a few of the pictures we took.

Fingers & Toes

McKay has discovered everything goes into his mouth. He is constantly eating his fingers and now he has learned that his toes are mighty tasty too. He is so much fun right now- I want him to stay at this age forever (if he would just learn how to sleep...) We have had our share of adventures the past few weeks. Payson had their Labor Day Celebration activities so we went to the parade and had a fun weekend with all Matt's family. McKay hated the sirens, but loved the rest of the parade. We have also been busy bottling and freezing peaches, peas, raspberries, and zuchini. We are doing corn, pears, and carrots next week. Fun huh? What a way to wrap up the summer!

My little smiler! He is such a happy baby.

I caught you eating those fingers again!

All dressed up for church.

Matt's brother and his wife just had a baby so we had their older kids for a few days. They all dressed up and had quite the tea party. It was fun.

Christmas in September?

McKay got his Christmas present the other day. He loves to stand up so we dipped into his Christmas fund and bought him this toy. He loves it! He needs to grow a couple more inches to stand up all by himself, but he balances okay for now. For Christmas he'll have to get diapers and formula...

Image
He's thinking really hard. He makes the cutest facial expressions!

Image
And now he won't look up from the flashing lights- he's mesmerized!

Here he is with his monkey Stripes.

And a big cheeser!

I have the cutest video of him and Matt playing and laughing, but it gave me an error when I tried to post it, so you just get pictures.

Olson Family Reunion

We had a family reunion this past week with Matt's Mom's side of the family. We had a picnic lunch at a park in Payson and then those who wanted to went up to camp at Payson Lakes for a few days. We didn't camp (I think they would have kicked us out of the campground for McKay's crying at night) but we did go up and visit one night. It is so pretty and relaxing to get away and enjoy the mountains. We live in a beautiful area!

McKay loves my Grandma Harding. We went and visited them last Sunday and he was all smiles and laughs for his Great-Grandma.

I got my hair cut last week and this is me with straight hair. No worries, it is curly again now.

Crib

Image

It is officially time to move McKay out of his cradle- since he spent so much time in it. Matt spent the night putting together McKay's new crib and then we had to rearrange the room so we could squish everything in. McKay loved his new crib. He slept 4 straight hours in his own bed in his own room! What a miracle- prayers are answered!

Image

What do I do with all this room?
Image

McKay is really into eating his fingers nowdays. Occasionally he will suck his thumb, but mostly he just wants to put both his fists in his mouth- at the same time.
Image

Almost rolling...
Image

He loves his tummy. He looks straight ahead and tries to crawl but doesn't have near the strength.
Image

Katelyn watch out! Matt is trying to rival your flower picture taking. I have successfully rubbed off on him!

Picture Time

We went to get McKay's picture taken last week and he did so great! He just smiled and loved all the attention until the end, as you can see. When he was done, he let us know. We got some really cute pictures with all his baseball gear. Sorry they are small- I can't enlarge them without making them blurry. McKay is three months old now and is growing up. He just wants to talk and smile at anyone who gives him attention. He is trying so hard to roll over. Matt saw him roll yesterday, but I haven't seen it yet...any day now.
