Mentally exhausted at the moment. Can't do much physically if your mentally tired anyways. Got all the thanks to give to my detailed design section where 'in doubt, nerd it out' was my motto and spending unholy portions of my time in the library ensued.
Signed my paperwork and all today for the transfer to the loggies. Bye-bye infantry for the moment I guess. Hell, even before I signed my papers Boss Besar already did so and made plans for the coming Inter-unit badminton coming up in february. Will be some interesting week there in february..have to be in 4 different places in the one week. Mind you, not near places as well. Then again if the travel is paid for what the heck?
Should be free tomorrow, tie off a few loose ends for my design and then winter ball on friday. Bringing Chloe along, as a friend of course. Plans already brewing up for next sat night for a wild night out in Magherafelt when the term is over with the boys.
Sobering thought of buying xmas presents for my relatives in Navan slowly seeping in on top of that.

Summer holidays..

Last July I was home back in Malaysia stuffing myself with food -seafood, pasar food, hawker food, mamak stuff, u name it I ate it..

Find myself slowly 'vegetating' (to slowly grow) this July 2009. Got a few stuff done but overall I think I still have too much time at hand. Summer camp over in warcop for 2 weeks which was just awesome, a trip over to London to renew my passport and explore the city (which changed my mind about travelling alone which isn't fun) a 20 mile tab with Red and Kenny weeks ago which is goina follow by a boot run tomorrow why the hell do I always seem to agree to Red's suggestion of a 'workout' remains a mystery..

Fishing trip off Bangor yesterday wasn't too bad besides the fact that the fishes we caught theoretically costed us £5 each (£15 for the boat each and friggin Michael and Pokmang didn't catch anything) yielded 12 nice sized mackerels which became a part of an experiment later on as I never tried cooking mackerels before.. Ended up coating them in tumeric,curry powder,crushed peppercorns,fish sauce and milk before grilling them. End result - not a success nor a failure, edible namanya.. Thats why we guys catch and gut the fish while the women-kind cooks it. Symbiotic relations eh?

Badminton training intensified abit this past 2 weeks in preparation for a summer competition down in Dublin this coming saturday. Taking alot outha myself but wanna give it my best shot this time. Snooping around for a job as well recently. Could use some extra moolah for the trip to Canada (or even after it!) to get me through the summer smoothly. Tried tescos, the Red Panda but nope haven't heard from them since. Thanks to the hordes of teenagers/students like myself off the leash for summer all hunting for summer jobs. And to think that July's a lil late? U must be joking...Except for this chinese restaurant that a Vivian works in thats kinda facing a sortage of staff recently. So down I went after badminton, gear with me, sweaty like a pig to go ask for a part time job.. The fella was decent enough but I kinda regretted telling him I have an uncle down south who owns a restaurant as well.. which I think might be reflected as proud.. but hell I'll take any job offered to kill time and earn abit doing so - That miniture 'interview' went well enough I think so left my contact details and fingers crossed I'll have a job to kill time soon!
( but I didnt tell him I'll be away to Canada for 2 weeks next month ) Ah wth! as if I care...

20 miles with 20 kilos on my back today left my shoulder a lil sore no doubt. Lisburn to Belfast and back with Red and Kenny. Did it in 7 hours plus a few detours around the woods. Got cars and buses and all don't want use.. use feet instead!

Quick update.
In london at the moment, sharing an apartment with Julian and his gf Kye Li. Just got here today. In london because I've to visit the Malaysian High Commission tomorrow. Renew my passport lor.. Got plenty of time to kill tho since my flight back is on thursday so I guess I'll explore london abit. Last time I was here was like more than 5 years ago with my mom and siblings.. which also serves to explain the part when I got off the train from Stansted airport in Liverpool Street train station, - hadn't a clue where to go! eventually found my way to Julian's place in Kilburn. No hassles, complications did arise but solved anyways. Flipping phone chose to died on me when I got off the plane..
Well, I guess its the big city and me then!

Adventure update - plans to cycle down to Dublin from Belfast will carry on after all! Managed to find people as crazy (or determined) as me to pull it off. Its goina be Big Red, Kenny and me on the 11th of july. Which gives me 1 day to pack for the trip and run all possible last minute maintenance on my bike. What else do we live for?

Well, at least I get paid AND I get fit-ter. Hahaha...

Its 8pm here and its still roasting in my room.. uncle Ding was right after all, when he told me that my rooms gna be the coldest room in the house during winter and the warmest during summer. Seriously feels like Malaysia, could use a fan or aircond now..

Did the mass transfer paper yesterday as well. Went okay, should be able to pass.
Didn't get any sleep last night at all and only slept at 8 this morning. Forced to get up to go play pool with the boys as promised, not one of my best days really.

Dreadful feeling earlier on, when I kinda stopped and pondered about my future, its uncertainty, whether I will be able to see my parents again etc..all this useless unproductive stuff really.
Now, feeling a lil numb. Heat's not helping either..

Like recently uncle Ding and me found ourselves driving down to Cork in the south for a golf tourney, a five hour gruelling night drive through the irish country side so I don't blame him for falling asleep behind the wheels (plus he's old!), what we ended up doing though was blasting some ABBA songs and singing along to them flying down to Cork 120km/hr(more actually) in his 4 wheel-drive-portable-karaoke...
Ignoring the usual standard cheesy 70's/80's/90's lyrics, they actually made some good music back then.. apart from (again) the VERY cheesy lyrics..
Just reminds me of those 3 hours balik kampung journeys to Ayer Tawar, Perak.
Reminiscing on those days only makes me home sick sometimes minus the singing along of course, which was desperate to keep the car on the road not some ditch ahead.
Noooo...part of me wanna go home now!
So much for staying back this summer anyway. Remembered the last time I was home, saying goodbye to my grandfather back in Sitiawan before I leave. I wasn't goina go home the next summer(i.e. next time I will be home is in 2 years) knowing that, he said(in mandarin of course) 'study well, next time you come back, you can come back and see me again, I will wait for you to return..' Those words slowly sank into me on the 3 hours back to Subang trying to imagine my old grandpa sitting waiting on the porch which he usually does whenever he knows we're coming back...The truth was, my grandma passed away last CNY hence my 'ah kung' being lonely and slowly losing the will to live. His slowly failing health conditions only makes me wonder if that could be the last goodbye..
Shrugging that thought aside, some good news, got a bloody hard paper on monday while the weather is being a bitch by being so nice and sunny while I'm stuck inside studying..
Back to work.. can't wait for next fri. Fun and games all the way!

Did my first paper today, Process Control. Honestly harder than I expected. Did it anyway, fingers crossed I don't have to come back and do a resit in August! Really wanna go to Canada now for adventure training with the OTC..
Imagine that, 2 weeks in Canada for £500 flights bungkus semua,mountain biking, kayaking, abseiling all those things, PLUS I get paid for all that 2 weeks there..i.e. £500 back! Shit man... A defo!
Adventure trainings summre only once in 2 years, (the last time they went to South Africa)
Now down to earth, the 2 things that stand between me and that.
1# - I pass all my papers now and live a care free August-to-come.
2# - I move the date for one of my resit paper forward/backward so it doesn't clash..

Next paper,next Thursday then the dreaded 'Mass Transfer' the next Monday... the 1st.

Well, applies for me anyway. Bet there those who beg to differ but what the heck?
2 weeks running up to my finals, a few restrictions imposed on myself (by myself!)

1) Sleep early, i.e. 'early' = range of 12pm-2am max.

2) Can't touch Dawn of War whose shortcut sits temptingly on the bottom left of my desktop.

3) Refrain from going on nights out AND in (i.e. drinking) until the exams are over. Mini pub crawl after the 1st leg MU - Arsenal match and all I seem to remember is it being wet..

4) Hurt my knee after the Belfast Marathon so goina go easy on the knees especially cycling and badminton.

In for training last night for the first time as A Coy. Its like when I walked into the drill hall, all heads turned and stared! Guess not many people here had seen a sesated Malaysian in a RIR caubeen...awkward none the less.

Abit hypocritical about my 2000 word essay and my design project...

I just can't sleep or rather refused to shut down my body and sleep.
Not the first time and infact happens almost every night except those nights when I'm put to bed with alcohol in my veins or when I completely burnt myself out with too much physical activities.
Its 3.55am here now, oblivious to the fact that I will only have less than 4 hours of sleep before getting up for the Belfast Marathon at 8.20am... Doing 6.0 miles tomorrow at a relay event with Pat, Jeng Haw, Jia Li and Jim. 1st to start of anyways..

What the heck its more like a prep for my summer camp anyway.

1st day back in uni officially after our 3 week long easter break, a monday..
Also happened to be our 1st class trip ever (that doesn't involve any alcohol what-so-ever). Visited the DuPont factory in Derry/Londonderry. Pretty interesting trip I think. Revived my dying interest in my increasingly boring course - Chemical Engineering. In fact I used to quote it as '..a dry and boring subject..' A visit to the Kevlar(body armour) plant turned it 180 degrees around I guess..lol.
The workshop we had at Dupont was pretty cool if not interesting about the Texas City BP plant explosion in 2005. We were looking at what went wrong, causes and effects etc.. Toured the plant as well, no pictures unfortunately tho no cameras or even mobiles allowed on site. Friggin plant produces the kevlar polymer used in the production of body armour for the US military so its supposingly 'top secret' plus only a certain nationalities are allowed into the plant(racist!)
Back to traffic-clogged rush hour Belfast at 6 and went for a long run with Jim just there. Yea, run in the rain... No complains tho, really can feel that my stamina and endurance is increasing since I joined the OTC after all the shit they put us through I guess.. Less than a month to finals, so back to work!
