Our Vision
In the next 20 years, every under-resourced student in San Francisco will have the writing skills and publishing platforms they need to use their voice for a positive impact.
Our financial documents are available on request.
We are a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting under-resourced students ages six to eighteen with their creative and expository writing skills and to helping teachers inspire their students to write.
Our services are structured around the understanding that great leaps in learning can happen with individualized attention and that strong writing skills are fundamental to future success.

Writing skills are fundamental to success, but many young people lack confidence for various reasons, including the challenge of learning English as a second language, financial and housing instability, and a lack of one-on-one attention during the school day. When our students strengthen their writing skills, they can access opportunities, tell their stories, and create a more just and equitable future.
826 Valencia is named for the street address of our first Writing Center in San Francisco. We’ve grown to include three Writing Centers and provide programming in a dozen public schools across the city.

826 Valencia is a collaborative workplace focused on fun, inclusivity, and the creative process. We’re always looking for new employees and interns to join our team.
