On July 8, 2024, Mr. Raymond F. Greene assumed charge as Director of the American Institute in Taiwan (AIT). This is Director Greene’s third posting in Taiwan, having last served as AIT Deputy Director from 2018-2021. He was most recently Deputy Chief of Mission in Tokyo, Japan, from 2021-24.

Karin M. Lang, a career member of the Senior Foreign Service with the rank of Minister-Counselor, has assumed duties as Deputy Director of AIT in Taipei, Taiwan, effective August 8, 2025. She has over 30 years of Foreign Service experience.
Commercial Section Chief
Janée Pierre-Louis is the Senior Commercial Officer and serves as AIT's Commercial Section Chief. She has held a range of leadership roles, including Senior Commercial Officer at the U.S. Embassy in Amman, Jordan, and Deputy Senior Commercial Officer at the U.S. Embassy in Ottawa, Canada.
Economic Section Chief
Eric Frater currently serves as Economic Section Chief at the American Institute in Taiwan in Taipei. Since joining the Foreign Service in 2005, Eric Frater has focused on advancing U.S. economic interests and deepening economic cooperation with allies and partners in East Asia.
Political Section Chief
Mike serves as Political Chief at the American Institute in Taiwan in Taipei. He joined the U.S. Department of State in 2004 and has held a variety of political, economic, and consular positions in Algiers, Beijing, Manila, and Taipei, and at the U.S. Mission to the United Nations in New York.
Public Diplomacy Section Chief
Arend Zwartjes is the Public Affairs Officer at the AIT. He has worked for the U.S. State Department since 2003 and previously served in overseas posts in China, Barbados, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Cambodia.
