Impact
We empower people and organisations to tackle the most pressing global issues.
Our projects bridge the gap between motivated individuals and exceptional opportunities to tackle global challenges through education, skill development, and creating pathways into impactful careers.
Our Projects
LASR Labs is a technical AI safety research programme focused on reducing the risk of loss of control to advanced AI. Participants work in teams of three to four, supervised by an experienced AI safety researcher, to write an academic-style paper and accompanying blog post. Teams work full-time and in-person from the London Initiative for Safe AI alongside other AI safety researchers. The programme is designed to “learn by doing”; taking a research project from proposal all the way to publication.
AI Governance Taskforce
The AI Governance Taskforce is a career development programme for experienced professionals looking to transition careers into AI governance, focussed on reducing risks from advanced AI.
Participants work around existing commitments during our 12 week, remote, part-time cohorts, producing policy research in teams of 4, led by our Research Team Lead staff in partnership with recognised experts in the field.
Teams write an academic-style paper and accompanying blog post to build knowledge, skills and work portfolios.
Impact First supports exceptional students and early-career professionals in London as they explore and pursue high-impact paths, equipping them with the skills, connections, and opportunities to address some of the most pressing global challenges. Their support ranges from events, programmes, career advising, community partnerships, and more. They also organise the Impact First Coworking Space (previously LEAH) in central London, for people working on projects with the potential for large-scale positive impact.
The Orion AI Governance Initiative is a talent development initiative based in the UK that aims to support outstanding students to launch a career shaping the future of artificial intelligence. The initiative offers three flagship components: the AI policy Accelerator, the Mentorship Programme, and the internship.
AI Safety Engineering Taskforce (ASET) connects experienced technical professionals with high-profile AI safety projects. We build and manage teams of skilled engineers and scientists, supporting their transition into full-time AI safety careers by providing entry-level opportunities in the field.
