The government has announced that 2026 will be the National Year of Reading, a major nationwide campaign designed to transform reading culture across the UK. Part-funded by the Department for Education (DfE) and led by the National Literacy Trust, the initiative will work with schools, publishers, libraries, youth organisations and families to build stronger reading habits and a love of books, positioning reading as a powerful activity that’s in tune with today’s young people and inspiring new audiences to help shift the national reading culture for good.
