About us
Founded in 1951, Verlag Dr. Albert Bartens is a publishing house specializing in the technology and economics of the sugar industry. Every month, we issue the journal Sugar Industry International, which is read throughout the world.
Today, our activity centers around our portal sugarindustry.info, with its latest news section, current statistics, a world-wide directory of sugar factories, a helpful buyers guide, and its extensive stock of technical and scientific papers (since 1951).
Twice a year, the journal is accompanied by the ZSB Buyers Guide, a five-lingual directory of about 200 suppliers. Every year since 1954, we publish a pocket manual Zuckerwirtschaft/Sugar Economy/Economie Sucrière, which also appears as an edition for the United States (Sugar & Sweetener Economy Europe & North America).
In addition, our list of publications features technical books for the beet and cane sugar industry, as Cane Sugar Engineering by Peter Rein and Sugar Technology by van der Poel, Schiweck, and Schwartz.
Our roots go back to the independent journal “Die Deutsche Zuckerindustrie”, founded in 1876 in Berlin, of which Dr Albert Bartens became the editor in 1903. His son-in-law, his grandson and now his great-grandson have continued his work and have given the journal and publishing program an international orientation, by transforming the “Zeitschrift für die Zuckerindustrie” through Zuckerindustrie/Sugar Industry into today’s “Sugar Industry International” in combination with its webportal sugarindustry.info.
