For the last 2-3 days i'm been binging Netflix. Getting throw most of the Ghibli films, tried Tuca and Bertie and Hilda. Ghibli: Watched Spirited Away, My Neighbor Totoro, Princess Mononoke, Castle in the Sky, Kiki's Delivery Service, Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind and Porco Rosso. (Not in this order). They where alright, rough as these types of movies are. I'll probably say KiKi was the good-est. Am i missing something with Spirited and Totoro? and Nausicaä was the one that got me closes to a tear. With the common theory thing that Steven will become a large wingless dragon thing, i've though about the series having a bad ending. Steven corrupts and shatters his carers and best friends. But he get's stick in either an unescapable hole on another planet, "frozen", getting lost in space (Ala Kars from Jojo) or to the extreme another universe that's just a void. You could make it even worst by having the gem go extinct. I feel like this would kinda avert expectations, giving the series a bad ending. Unlike the original series and many other cartoons like say Adventure time.
