The EGU’s Education Committee is now accepting applications for the 2026 Education Fellowship, to develop and deliver a creative initiative which promotes geoscience at the primary, secondary, and/or university education level. Apply by 23 February 2026.
Institute for European Environmental Policy (IEEP) is offering one place to join a year long mentoring scheme, supported by EGU. Involving pastoral support and career advice, successful applications will get the chance to explore a range of climate relevant career options, whilst attending IEEP meetings and the EGU General Assembly in 2027. Apply by 13 February 2026.
Members of the media, public information officers, and science bloggers are now invited to register for the meeting free of charge. EGU26 will be held from 3 - 8 May, 2026 both onsite in Vienna, Austria, and virtually.
The full results of the Union’s autumn 2025 election are now available.
Intense rainfall lasting only a few hours is often enough to trigger natural hazards such as flash floods and landslides, leading to severe damage to infrastructure. These short-lived events are among the most dangerous natural hazards in the Mediterranean region, yet they are also among the hardest to study. Their small spatial scale and brief duration mean that they are often missed or underestimated by traditional climate datasets. Understanding how their frequency and intensity are changing is therefore crucial for …
Introduction The solar wind, a continuous outflow of charged particles from the solar corona, plays a fundamental role in shaping the heliosphere and driving space weather. Its interaction with planetary magnetospheres and atmospheres regulates magnetospheric dynamics, influences atmospheric escape, and governs space weather hazards that can affect both space- and ground-based technologies. Despite over six decades of study, many aspects of the solar wind remain poorly understood, particularly the processes responsible for its acceleration in the near-Sun region between 1.5 …
Presenting can be a big topic on its own, so I am about to share some essentials. Let’s suppose you have a talk: have its content completely ready at least a day before, practice it at least three times in full length, and once before you are in front of a real audience. If you don’t have a test audience, you can use a mirror. I know, this can sound embarrassing, and it does take time, but it is the …
