NanoBioscience

The IEEE Transactions on NanoBioscience reports on original, innovative, and interdisciplinary research, both fundamental and applied, focusing on nano- to micro-scale biological systems. The journal invites contributions describing advances in bio-science, -technology, and -engineering, from biomolecular to multi-cellular domains, concerning their physics (e.g., mechanics, materials, electromagnetism); their chemistry (e.g., DNA, proteins, biochemical pathways); or their information storage and processing (e.g., biological signals, algorithms, and computation).

Dr. Kin Fong Lei is a Distinguished Professor in Biomedical Engineering at Chang Gung University (CGU), Taiwan. He received B.S. degree from National Tsing-Hua University, Taiwan (1998), and Ph.D. degree from The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong (2005). In 2006, he was a post-doctoral fellow at the University of Western Ontario, Canada. Prior to joining CGU, he was a Lecturer at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong (2007-2010). Dr. Lei has made significant original contributions to research in bio-microfluidics, bio-sensing, and organ-on-chip. He has published over 100 peer-reviewed articles in leading international journals, authored a book, and contributed to 7 invited book chapters. Dr. Lei has been listed in Stanford/Elsevier’s World’s Top 2% Scientists annually since 2020 and was selected as IEEE-NTC Distinguished Lecturer in 2022-2023.

Dr. Lei is a Fellow of American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC), Fellow of the Institute of Physics (IOP), and Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). He serves as a Chair of IEEE-EMBS Technical Committee on Bionanotechnology and BioMEMS (BNM) in 2020-2022 and Chair of IEEE-NTC Technical Committee on Nanorobotics and Nanomanufacturing (2021-2027). He is Associate Editor at EMBS Conference Editorial Board since 2020. He also served as an organizing committee member for many IEEE conferences for MEMS/microfluidics researchers. He was the General Chair of IEEE-NANOMED 2021 and 2023.

In an era where technology is expanding at a rapid rate and the needs for medical application of these technologies has never been greater, the intersection between engineering, medicine and biology is a critical place to be. The IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society is well-positioned to serve as a central gathering point for both of these major disciplines.
