1) What Fuse Caption Studio Does

Fuse Caption Studio empowers users to create, edit, and export subtitles, and/or transcripts for your media projects. By leveraging on-device processing and integrated Apple system frameworks, it delivers a powerful and privacy-conscious experience directly on your machine. Please note that Fuse Caption Studio is a dedicated creation tool, not a file-hosting or publishing platform for your projects.

2) Plans & Features (Summary)

Fuse offers Free, Pro, and Lifetime licenses (Pro Lifetime). Features may evolve; the in-app plan screen is the source of truth.

Notes:

  • Non-English export is a Pro feature (English export works on all plans).
  • Feature availability depends on your macOS version and Apple frameworks installed on your device.
  • We may change plan inclusions over time. Changes will be reflected in-app and on this page.

3) Purchasing, Billing & Platform Terms

Purchases and subscriptions are handled by Apple’s in-app purchase system (StoreKit) and / or by Lemon Squeezy. By buying or using Fuse Caption Studio you also agree to their applicable terms.

  • Subscriptions (Auto-renewing): Lite and Pro are billed by Apple at the selected interval and renew automatically until canceled in your Apple ID settings.
  • Lifetime Licenses (Non-consumable): Lite Lifetime and Pro Lifetime are one-time purchases that unlock the corresponding plan’s features for the life of the app/account on supported devices.
  • Trials/Promos: If offered, trial length and pricing are shown at purchase time.
  • Refunds: Managed by Apple per App Store policies. We do not process payments directly.
  • Taxes & Pricing: Displayed in your local currency by Apple at checkout.

4) Your Content

You retain all rights in your media and subtitles. You grant us a limited, revocable license to process your files solely to operate app features you invoke (e.g., generating subtitles, exporting, translating…). We do not claim ownership of your content.

You are responsible for:

  • Obtaining the rights/permissions to process the media you import.
  • Ensuring your use complies with applicable laws and third-party rights (e.g., copyright).

5) Technology & Third-Party Frameworks

Fuse Caption Studio uses Apple frameworks and other system-level capabilities where available (e.g., on-device speech/translation APIs on supported macOS versions). Where translation is used, output is machine-generated and may contain errors. Always review before publishing.

  • Privacy by design: Projects are processed locally where feasible. Certain features may require calling Apple system services on your device; Fuse Caption Studio does not operate its own cloud for your files.
  • Connectivity: Some features may require an active internet connection (e.g., retrieving product info from the App Store).
  • System requirements: Features vary by macOS version and hardware support; see the in-app feature list for your machine.
  • FFmpeg: We also utilize the open-source FFmpeg project to provide robust, offline media conversion.

6) Acceptable Use

You agree not to use Fuse Caption Studio to:

  • Infringe intellectual property or privacy rights.
  • Create or distribute unlawful, defamatory, or harmful content.
  • Reverse engineer, circumvent licensing, or interfere with app security.
  • Use automated means to abuse rate limits or exceed fair-use caps.

We may suspend or terminate access for violations.

7) Accuracy, Output, and Professional Use

Subtitle timing, transcription, and translations are generated by algorithms and may be imperfect. Fuse Caption Studio is provided for general productivity; it does not provide legal, medical, or professional advice. You are responsible for reviewing and correcting outputs.

8) Support & Updates

We provide updates and bug fixes at our discretion. Some updates may change or remove features, or adjust plan limits, to maintain quality and comply with platform policies. We aim to announce meaningful changes in-app and/or on this page.

9) Privacy Summary

  • Data we handle: Project files you open in Fuse Caption Studio (media, subtitles, metadata you enter), purchase state (from Apple), diagnostics you optionally share.
  • Storage: Files remain on your device unless you export or share them. We do not sell your data.
  • Analytics/Crash reports: If enabled, we may collect minimal diagnostics to improve stability.
  • Third parties: Apple and / or Lemon Squeezy (in-app purchases, OS services). We do not send your files to external vendors for processing.
  • Your rights: Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to access, delete, or restrict processing of personal data. Contact us at support@getfuseapp.com.

10) Ownership & License

Fuse Caption Studio is licensed, not sold. Subject to these terms, we grant you a limited, nonexclusive, nontransferable license to install and use Fuse Caption Studio for personal or business use on Apple platforms you own/control. All rights not expressly granted are reserved by Fuse Labs.

11) Termination

You may stop using Fuse Caption Studio at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you materially breach these terms or use the app unlawfully. Termination does not entitle you to a refund (handled by Apple per its policies).

12) Disclaimers

Fuse Caption Studio and all outputs are provided “AS IS” and “AS AVAILABLE” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement.

13) Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Fuse Labs will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenues, data, or goodwill, arising from or related to your use of Fuse Caption Studio. Our aggregate liability will not exceed the greater of (a) amounts you paid for Fuse in the 12 months before the claim, or (b) CAD $50. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; in those cases, liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted.

14) Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Fuse Labs and its affiliates, officers, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of your content or your breach of these terms.

15) Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms to reflect changes in the app, our practices, or the law. We will note the Effective date above and may notify you in-app for material changes. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated terms.

16) Governing Law & Disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario, Canada, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Disputes will be resolved in the courts of Toronto, Ontario, unless applicable law requires otherwise. You and we waive class actions to the extent permitted by law.

Subscriptions & Licensing Addendum

What you’re buying

  • Lite (subscription): Recurring, auto-renewing access to Lite features. – Deprecated
  • Pro (subscription): Recurring, auto-renewing access to Pro features.
  • Lite Lifetime (one-time): One-time unlock; same features as Lite subscription. – Deprecated
  • Pro Lifetime (one-time): One-time unlock; same features as Pro subscription.

Managing your subscription

Subscriptions are managed in your Apple ID settings. You can cancel future renewals at any time; access continues until the period ends.

Refunds

Refunds are handled by Apple per App Store policy. Contact Apple Support to request a refund.

Device & OS requirements

Some features (e.g., translation) require newer macOS versions and/or supported hardware. If a system API is unavailable on your device, the feature may not appear.

Acceptable Use & IP Notice (Short)

  • Don’t infringe copyrights or misuse third-party content.
  • Don’t attempt to bypass licensing, copy our proprietary designs, or reverse engineer our code.
  • You own your subtitles and media; we own the Fuse Caption Studio app, brand, and documentation.

Transparency Statement

  • Fuse Caption Studio processes your media locally where possible.
  • We rely on Apple’s purchase system and may use Apple frameworks on your device to provide features (e.g., translation).
  • We do not sell your data or use it to train external models.
  • If we ever introduce a cloud feature, we’ll disclose it clearly and give you a choice.

1) Information We Collect

  • Account & Purchases: We receive confirmation from Apple and / or Lemon Squeezy when you buy, upgrade, or restore a plan. We do not store your payment details — those are handled entirely by Apple and / or Lemon Squeezy.
  • App Usage Data: We may collect anonymized crash reports and performance metrics (if you enable sharing in macOS/iOS).
  • Project Data: Media and subtitles you work on remain on your device unless you export or share them. Fuse Caption Studio does not automatically upload your files to us or third parties.
  • Support Communication: If you email us, we will see the contact details and content you provide.

2) How We Use Information

  • To provide the app and enable your purchases.
  • To diagnose crashes and improve performance.
  • To respond to support requests.
  • To comply with legal obligations.

3) How We Do Not Use Information

  • We do not sell or rent your data.
  • We do not use your content to train AI models.
  • We do not show targeted ads.

4) Data Storage

  • Project files: stored locally on your device.
  • Purchase status: securely stored via Apple’s systems and in your app preferences (UserDefaults).
  • Crash/analytics data: handled by Apple frameworks (if you opt in).

5) Data Sharing

  • Apple: for purchases, App Store reviews, crash reports.
  • Lemon Squeezy: for purchases.
  • No other third parties receive your files or personal information.

6) Your Choices & Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal data. Contact us at support@getfuseapp.com for such requests.

  • Diagnostics: You can disable system analytics/crash sharing in macOS/iOS settings.
  • Your content: Delete or export your projects at any time from within Fuse Caption Studio.
  • Access/Deletion/Correction requests: Email support@getfuseapp.com. We’ll honor applicable rights under your local law (e.g., GDPR/UK-GDPR, CPRA/CCPA, PIPEDA).

7) Children’s Privacy

Fuse Caption Studio is not directed to children and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you are under the age of digital consent in your region (e.g., 13 in the U.S. and Canada, 16 in many EEA countries and the U.K.), you should use Fuse Caption Studio only with the involvement of a parent or legal guardian and you should not provide us with personal information. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, please contact support@getfuseapp.com and we will delete it.

8) Security

We apply reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect data. No method is 100% secure.

9) Changes

We may update this policy. We’ll post updates here with a new Effective date.

Sale Terms & License Agreement

1. Introduction

These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of Fuse Caption Studio (the “Software”), provided by Fuse Labs (“we”, “us”, or “our”), a sole proprietorship registered in Ontario, Canada.

By purchasing, downloading, installing, or using the Software, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Software.

2. Product & License Grant

Fuse Caption Studio is licensed, not sold.

2.1 License Types

We offer the following license types:

  • Pro (Monthly Subscription)
  • Lifetime Pro (One-time Purchase)

2.2 Scope of License

Subject to these Terms and your payment, we grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable (unless approved), revocable license to install and use the Software on one (1) machine per license.

2.3 License Transfer

License transfers are not permitted by default.

Transfers may be approved only with prior written permission from Fuse Labs.

2.4 Restrictions

You may not:

  • Resell, sublicense, or redistribute the Software
  • Reverse engineer or modify the Software
  • Circumvent licensing or usage limits
  • Use the Software for unlawful purposes

3. Purchases, Payments & Pricing

3.1 Payment Processing

All direct purchases are processed by Lemon Squeezy, which acts as our authorized payment processor and merchant of record.

We do not store your payment information.

3.2 Pricing Changes

Prices, plans, and features may change at any time, but changes will not retroactively affect completed purchases.

4. Refund Policy

Refunds are handled case by case, at our sole discretion.

Refunds may be granted if:

  • A major technical issue prevents use of the Software as intended
  • The issue cannot be resolved within a reasonable timeframe

Refunds are not granted for:

  • Purchase regret
  • Change of mind
  • Lack of use
  • Misunderstanding of features clearly described prior to purchase

Refund requests must be submitted to support@getfuseapp.com.

Approved refunds are processed via Lemon Squeezy.

5. Updates & Availability

We may provide updates, bug fixes, or improvements at our discretion.

We do not guarantee:

  • Continuous availability
  • Compatibility with future operating system versions
  • That all bugs can be resolved immediately

6. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Software is provided “AS IS” and “AS AVAILABLE”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied.

We specifically disclaim any implied warranties of:

  • Merchantability
  • Fitness for a particular purpose
  • Non-infringement

7. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

  • Fuse Labs shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages
  • Our total liability shall not exceed the amount paid by you for the Software

This includes, but is not limited to, loss of data, loss of profits, or business interruption.

8. Apple App Store Disclaimer

If you obtained the Software via the Mac App Store:

  • Apple Inc. is not a party to this agreement
  • Apple is not responsible for the Software or its support
  • Fuse Labs is solely responsible for the product

9. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your license if you violate these Terms.

Upon termination:

  • Your right to use the Software ends immediately
  • No refunds are owed unless required by law

10. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Ontario, Canada, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.

11. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Software constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

Affiliate Program Terms (Lemon Squeezy)

1. Overview

Fuse Labs offers an affiliate program managed through Lemon Squeezy. By participating, you agree to these Affiliate Terms in addition to Lemon Squeezy’s own terms.

2. Commission

  • Affiliates earn 25% commission on qualifying purchases
  • Commissions are calculated and paid by Lemon Squeezy
  • Payment schedules and thresholds are governed by Lemon Squeezy

3. Acceptable Promotion

Affiliates must not:

  • Use spam or unsolicited messaging
  • Misrepresent Fuse Caption Studio or its features
  • Impersonate Fuse Labs or claim official affiliation
  • Use misleading or deceptive advertising

4. Termination

Fuse Labs reserves the right to:

  • Suspend or terminate affiliate accounts in cases of abuse or violation
  • Withhold unpaid commissions resulting from fraudulent or prohibited activity

5. Changes

Affiliate terms may change at any time. Continued participation constitutes acceptance of updated terms.

6. Governing Law

Affiliate Terms are governed by the laws of Ontario, Canada.

Open Source

If Fuse Caption Studio integrates third-party open-source libraries, their licenses are distributed with the app in Fuse → Help → Documentation & Licensing or included in this page.

FFmpeg (Local Media Processing)

Fuse Caption Studio utilizes code from the FFmpeg project (http://ffmpeg.org) to handle video and audio format conversions. FFmpeg is a trademark of Fabrice Bellard, originator of the FFmpeg project.

FFmpeg is licensed under the GNU Lesser General Public License (LGPL) version 2.1 (or later). To strictly comply with the LGPL, Fuse Caption Studio dynamically links to the FFmpeg libraries (.dylib files) rather than statically embedding them into our proprietary code.

  • Source Code Offer: You can obtain the exact FFmpeg source code and build scripts used to compile the libraries in this application by emailing us at support@getfuseapp.com. This offer is valid for 3 years from the date of your app download.
  • User Modification (Relinking): Under the LGPL, you have the right to modify and replace the FFmpeg .dylib libraries inside the Fuse Caption Studio app bundle. Please note: modifying the app bundle will break macOS code-signing and Apple’s App Sandbox protections, which may prevent the app from launching. This is done entirely at your own risk, and we cannot provide customer support for modified app bundles.
