About

I am leading R&D for agents at the Allen Institute for AI (AI2), building agents that perform highly complex tasks like scientific research and collaborate naturally with people—plus evals and tooling for rigorous measurement.

My research focuses on how to creatively combine human and machine intelligence, and I publish in both AI and HCI venues. I am passionate about rigorous measurement and open standards.

Previously, I was in the computer science departments at Stanford (postdoc), University of Washington (Ph.D.), and Harvard College (A.B.). I am also a musician with degrees from New England Conservatory (M.M.) and Harvard College (A.B.).
