The Problem:
We need better sensors

The gold standard for many liquid chemical sensing applications involves taking samples and sending them to a laboratory for analysis, which takes days. This is a fundamental problem in many industries, including environmental water monitoring for pollutants, water quality for agriculture and aquaculture, liquid biopsies for medical and veterinary diagnostics. In the time it takes for a sample result to be returned, people may suffer poor health outcomes, irreversible environmental damage can occur and companies lose money through compliance failure and inefficient processes.

Our Solution

Our sensing solution uses a unique bioelectronic interface technology to create small, lightweight, low-power sensors that measure trace chemicals in water and output an electronic signal rapidly.

Microorganisms have evolved over billions of years to be supreme sensors of trace chemicals in liquid environments. We take this innate ability and harness it through bioengineering to create sensors that respond to a wide and diverse range of commercially and medically relevant chemical targets.

By coupling these microbes with our novel integrated circuit chips, we create a unique bioelectronic device that outputs target chemical concentration in a liquid sample.
