The River Lodge Motel is a great example of how historic preservation and modern engineering meet. Transforming this iconic 13,500 sq. ft. Paso Robles landmark required a deep dive into the original masonry structure. To open up the new lobby and guest rooms, our team carefully reconfigured the interior bearing walls while adding new roof framing, beams, and foundations to support the updated layout. Beyond the historic walls, we also engineered the foundations and structural bones for the new bar and trellis—the perfect spot for a post-wine-tasting wind-down! It’s an honor to see this iconic site receive the AIA CCC Award of Honor for Historic Preservation, and we’re proud to have provided the backbone for its second act. We recently made the news! 📺 It was an awesome day in West Sacramento as ABC 10 joined us for the groundbreaking of River Grove Apartments. We are so proud to see this project on Fifth Street get some time in the spotlight, as it represents a huge step forward for affordable housing in Yolo County. The mission behind this 37-unit development is the best part. It is specifically designed to provide permanent, affordable homes for veterans and individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities. With long waitlists for housing in the area, this project will soon give our neighbors in the area a place to call their own. Our very own engineers Jonathan Herrera and Greg Shehtanian were out there with city officials and our project partners to kick off a build that will help our neighbors move indoors and find some long-term stability. We are happy to be handling the structural engineering for a project that does this much good for the community. We’re excited to see this project come to life!
