Midday Media Munch 🍽️ | Travelers may have heard by now that we are amid a partial #governmentshutdown. The last (and longest) shutdown feels, in the words of Hilary Duff, "So Yesterday," and travelers may be fearing they are in for disruptions amid Spring Break trips. USA Today's consumer travel wiz, Zach Wichter, gives the TLDR for this partial shutdown in his latest, which features insights from Going spokesperson, Katy Nastro. At Going, we are, and always have been, on the traveler's side 🤝 and will continue to monitor this shutdown to provide updates from our industry insiders like Zach and internal experts. Give Going a follow for news you can use, flight deals, and general travel goodness. And maybe a pop culture reference here and there 🤗 🛫 https://lnkd.in/gkV4m8Zy #airtravel #shutdown #usatoday

🐰 Everyone's talking about the Bunny Bowl...We mean, the #Superbowl 😅 . Good thing we found a fresh batch of flight deals from various cities to Puerto Rico, like Boston to San Juan in Business Class for only $682 roundtrip (over 54% off), which is more than what some people paid for an economy ticket out to the "big game" 🏈 We can't promise the bunny will be there, but we can promise you'll have a great time knowing you snagged a good deal 😁 https://lnkd.in/eBR9cEmz #getgoing #puertorico

🌨️ Winter Storm Air Travel Tips 101: ➡️ Sign up for airlines’ text alerts on the status of flights. Also, download your carrier’s app and turn on Push Notifications. ➡️ ➡️ Check the National Airspace System status provided by the DOT, where ground stops, ground delays, and air traffic control system announcements are listed. ➡️ Put your airline and flight number directly into a Google search bar to retrieve the flight status that way. ➡️ ➡️ Check the website FlightAware for larger flight trends across the country. Hop on waiver offers ahead of bad weather or other disruptions quickly. Early birds have the best choices of the remaining seats and flights. These are just a few tried and true tips from Going founder and Chief Flight Expert, Scott Keyes, recommended to CNN's Forrest Brown in a digital piece this past November. With Winter Storm Fern expected to hit roughly 30+ airports in the coming days, we want travelers to be prepared for the worst-case scenario 🎒 #winterstorm #travel #flightcancellations https://lnkd.in/eicqeh6r

Going is thrilled to be amongst the top 1️⃣ 5️⃣ reports featured in Lennart Dobravsky's Travel Trend Report Guide 2026. A lot of love and insights went into our #StateofTravel and Flight Deals from our small but mighty team, so we could not be prouder to be featured amongst other blockbuster industry reports 👏
The 2026 travel trend reports have started flooding in (and it's not even December). Keeping up is nearly impossible. So let me save you a few hours of scrolling. I read and assessed the first dozen 2026 travel outlook reports and mapped the eight major ones into a simple framework to evaluate insight quality (not marketing polish). (This is my personal, honest assessment; meant to be constructive, not critical): For the full write-up incl. explanations and placements, pls go here: https://lnkd.in/eizaFvnC 📉 Content Fluff (Light reads with lack of depth) 1) Expedia: “Unpack ’26: The Trends in Travel” https://lnkd.in/eSSyUgY4 2) Priceline: “Where to Next in 2026?” https://lnkd.in/evgNME65 3) Omio: “NowNext 2025–2026” https://lnkd.in/e7iVb4JY 📊 Excel Dumps (Strong data foundations, but missing the “so what”) 4) Amadeus: “How Will Technology Transform Travel?” https://lnkd.in/eAJkc9c9 5) SITA: “Traveler Voice Report” https://lnkd.in/exX-CVXx 🔥 Hot Takes (Creative angles that could use more research depth) 6) Skyscanner: “2026 Travel Trends” https://lnkd.in/eYH75yHM 7) Lemongrass: “Travel Trend Report 2026” https://lnkd.in/eZMrJYVa 8) Hilton: “2026 Trends Report” https://lnkd.in/e3yfGCsV ⭐ One key observation: The Insight Leadership quadrant remains empty (for now). This isn’t criticism. It simply shows how rare it is to combine: → proprietary data → analytical depth → and a bold, truly research-backed narrative Will we see a true INSIGHT LEADERSHIP report for 2026? I’m optimistic. The potential contenders that could pull it off: Skift: Their new Megatrends report is already being teased by Rafat Ali and team. I’m bullish the promo lives up to its quality, especially if it leans more into data. McKinsey and the likes: They all have the analytical firepower to deliver a killer deep dive, though travel isn’t usually at the top of their agenda. Anything planned Vik Krishnan, Nina Lind, Jaap Bouwer? What I am most excited about: Bold travel companies that are using their own proprietary booking and user behavior data. Last year, KAYAK's WTF 2030 report (powered by The Future Laboratory), Mews' Hospitality Outlook (led by Wouter Geerts, PhD), and Travelport's "Tipping Point" report (by Kyle Moore & team) were my favorite reads. And of course, Hopper is always good for a killer, data-rich insights piece (-> Hayley Berg & Dakota Smith) We’ll see in the next few weeks. P.S. If I missed any major report, feel free to link below👇
