Creating new Vital Signs DCC Healthcare had worked for over two centuries with clinicians, scientists and health systems designing, developing and manufacturing innovative and essential medical devices. After being acquired by Investindustrial in 2025, its next chapter began, under a new name: Vital Healthcare. Zero-G worked with the Vital team to create a new brand identity to signify this change while staying connected to that rich history. Vital Healthcare’s new mission is: to empower clinicians with greater precision, clearer insight, and enhanced control to deliver transformative care. Our goal was to infuse that same sense of clarity and purpose through the new brand identity and website vitalhealthcare.com. With thanks to Conor Costigan, Enda Scott, Mark Coffey, Redmond McEvoy, Sheena Morley and all the team at Vital Healthcare, and to our team in Zero-G: Ciarán ÓGaora, Kate Sheehan and Siobhan Traynor.

With all the talk on the impact of AI and the rest on our lives, I have found myself returning to a talk by philosopher Alan Watts, given to IBM engineers in 1969. The talk is called "Seeing through the net," and in it, Watts reminds us to view organisations as organisms rather than mechanisms. He explores ideas of rational control in the face of growing complexity and how the assumptions we make can stand in our way. While a lot has changed since 1969, Watt reminds us that what it means to be human and wrestle with uncertainty is still much the same. https://lnkd.in/eYXYGV43

This is an interesting article by Catharine Rossi in Dezeen on the use of the St George’s flag in parts of England. The appropriation of national symbols is not just an issue for England, as we see the tricolour being used in parts of Ireland beyond the North to suggest zones of exclusion. Catharine’s headline might be more accurate, referencing "the power of symbols" rather than the "power of design". This is an issue for everyone, as each of us (designer or not) has the power to shape the meaning of symbols that are supposed to represent us all. So, how do we keep our national symbols open and inclusive? https://lnkd.in/e8sunzbU

Architects for the Birds is a creative project in aid of the Tessa Jowell Foundation that features birdhouses designed by ten of the world’s leading architects. The ten unique birdhouses have been exhibited in Christie’s, London, over the last week and will be auctioned to raise funds for brain cancer research today. We have really enjoyed creating the identity and catalogue for this lovely project and seeing how each practice has approached an architectural brief at such an intimate scale. Designs range from precisely engineered forms with utility in mind to poetic sculptures that explore the relationship between nature and design. Find out more about the works on the Christie’s website at https://lnkd.in/endps_qz and the Tessa Jowell Foundation at: https://lnkd.in/eJWmSa-p
