Life....

Well quick recap, arthritis sucks. been pretty bad lately. but i think finally a treatment is starting to help.

Quelab is still a thing, we are now in a huge 6800+ square foot building, but we are about 15-20 members short of our full sustainability. (mostly made up by donations and by workshop fees) New location has a Craft/fiber arts room, classroom, 3dprint room, electronics lab, woodshop, and a start of a metalshop. We also now have a 80w Laser cutter/Engraver.

Ingress is a game ive been playing for over a year, great local community, fun GPS based capture the flag/tower defense style game, that gets you out there to see things and walk about!

Work is still workish. life is hard with lots of stiffness and severe chronic pain, but despite it i keep having a pretty full schedule, and friends whom help me to have a full life.

My life in links.

Well im officially all moved out, (have been since saturday) Mucho mucho thanks to everyone that helped. it was hell!

Still font even have my desktop pc up at the new place, so im only really online for a hour or so most days at home. need to work on resurfacing the desk, and then moving it and setting up my computer before i will be reading here very often.

probably going to push for a house warming party at the beginning of August, give me time to stop looking like im living out of "random boxes"

Quelab is working on a high altitude balloon launch, and its also having an event Saturday "Things that go boom" $10 (goes to help keep us open!) http://quelab.net/wordpress/1459/things-that-go-boom/ sadly ive not been around Quelab as much as i like due to the move, so my part in this event is kinda small despite it being one of my big interests. Although I will be there tonight for 2600, and tomorrow For things that go boom.

Well there you have it. still stupid busy with work and life and running a hackerspace. but getting better.

BTW calling all makers, and people interested in such things! September 23rd. http://www.albuquerque-minimakerfaire.com/

Sofar so good, quiet care free me day for my birthday. Maybe at the end of the month i may have a more generalized bday/house warming party, but all in all just slept in, got up made myself egg's biscuits, then wandered down to ACE comic expo. OMG was it a zoo!! never imagined we had so many geeks/nerds in town.

I was manning the Quelab/ABQ Mini Maker Faire booth. we had 3d printers, and all sorts of gizmos, lots of interest, lets hope it translates into a few new Quelab members, we could use it!

Albuquerque's maker faire i think will be very cool, smaller than the big one i just went to, but pretty cool, mark down Sept 23rd now! because i will be very disappointed in you if you are in town but dont attend!

photos of my recent trip to the big maker fiare are here! http://www.flickr.com/photos/killbox/sets/72157629886137502/with/7285139322/

Anyway, just had a fine supper and am soon off to go wish a friend a merry mutual birthday! until nect time...

Hello LJ, my life has been busy, Work and making Quelab work, both are alot of work. but im pretty happy doing it.

We have been working on a Rube Goldberg device, (which will play center roll on a gal's proposal to her boyfriend. Whic in its self is super geeky and awesome! We have been building it pretty much all of January, and at as of Tuesday night it was about 5 steps from being complete (still needed lots of additional testing.

Going to be back down there Friday, for the 2600 meeting, (had a pretty good turnout last month, but i was too busy this month to remember to let people know (in a reasonable time.) probably spend some time debugging/working on it.

If you want to come down and see/help it, or just hangout 6-9pm 1112 2nd street NW!

Beyond that We are working on plans for our February project. The theme is Hacking Chocolate! Anyone have any ideas/tips/local chococolateur contacts?

As for the rest of my life, some things are great, some things are kinda odd, im not sure I really like it, but I don't like the alternatives any more.

Black Lentil Salad

Ok, well I've posted past yum recipes here, why not continue!

Tonight I made a simple yummy salad.

Started with buying some black lentils at whole foods, I'm sure ive had them before, but never cooked em, yellow, red, white.. never black.

Heres what went into the salad.

1 small heart of oak leaf lettuce
1/2 cup of small vine ripened tomatoes (orange, cherry, lightbulb types)
1/2 cup of slightly undercooked black lentils

Dressing:
2 Tablespoons of low sodium soy sauce
2 Table spoons of balsamic vinegar (this was even my cheap nappa valley runny stuff)
1 pinch of fresh black pepper
1 pinch of garlic powder

cooked up about a cup of dry lentils cooked them for about 15 minutes until they were soft but not mushy. drained them and set them aside to cool to room temp. Sliced up the lettuce and tomatoes, sprinkled in the lentils and poured the dressing over it.

I was licking the bowl clean!
