📢 Hoopla is Ending – Try These Great Digital Alternatives!

Starting January 30, 2026, Menands Public Library will no longer offer Hoopla. While we know many patrons enjoy its instant access, Hoopla accounts for only 3% of our monthly checkouts and consumes a large portion of our digital budget. By focusing our resources on Libby and other digital platforms, we can provide stronger, more sustainable digital services for everyone.

What this means for you:

  • Borrowed Hoopla items can be finished by the normal due date.
  • After January 30, no new Hoopla checkouts will be available.

Great digital options you can start using today:

  • Libby App: Mystery & Romance All-Access collections with no wait. Plus, through UHLS Reciprocal Agreements, you can borrow from the Southern Adirondack, Mohawk Valley, and Mid-Hudson Libraries.
  • Comics Plus: Unlimited comics, manga, and graphic novels.
  • Kanopy: Stream movies, TV, and documentaries for free.
  • NYS Talking Book & Braille Library: Audiobooks & braille mailed to your home if you qualify.

Our staff can assist with setting up Libby, Comics Plus, or Kanopy, and you can request titles for Libby at [email protected].
