WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT

Striving for growth, engagement and awareness

NAEDA is dedicated to highlighting the workforce needs of the equipment industry, encompassing roles from service technicians and parts specialists to precision ag. Through policy advocacy and scholarship programs, NAEDA is committed to nurturing and advancing the industry’s workforce.

Since their formation, the Equipment Dealers Foundation (EDF) and Canada Equipment Dealers Foundation (CEDF) have focused on workforce development. They both choose to support all career paths in a dealership with its scholarship program but take a special interest in service technicians.

NAEDA offers a wide range of resources and advocacy for workforce development from scholarships to the promotion of industry opportunities to youth and educators.

As the most profitable department in a dealership, the service department must hire and retain top technicians, but there is a skills gap in our industry and too many dealerships find themselves with a shortage of service technicians. The work EDF & CEDF does raises awareness of and interest in the service technician position. It is the goal of workforce development initiatives to improve the pipeline of qualified technicians available for hire at equipment dealerships throughout North America.
