Origins in the Logar Valley
The Plesnik family begins its life in the valley, living in harmony with nature through agriculture and forestry. Their early values of respect for the land and its preservation form the foundation of the family’s future hospitality vision.
1932
The first Plesnik hotel
Franc Plesnik, grandfather of today’s owner Martina Plesnik, opens the first hotel with 60 rooms and a restaurant. His dream of a modern Alpine resort is interrupted by the war, yet the vision remains alive.
1952
A modest guesthouse is born
Martina Plesnik’s father opens a small guesthouse with five rooms, built on the remains of the former grand plans. Among the early guests is then President Josip Broz Tito.
1991
A new beginning after independence
With the return of family property after Slovenia’s independence, Martina Plesnik repurchases the mountain lodge that stood on the site of the original Piskeršnik shelter. This marks the start of the renewed Plesnik legacy.
1995
Reopening of the renovated Hotel Plesnik
Under the leadership of Martina Plesnik, the renovated hotel opens its doors. It quickly becomes recognised as one of the most beautiful Alpine glacier valley hotels, blending tradition with a modern, sustainable approach.
2016
International recognition
Hotel Plesnik receives the Luxury Travel Guide Award for the Best Boutique Hotel in the World, affirming its unique character and dedication to hospitality.
2024
Honoured for environmental leadership
Big 7 Travel includes Hotel Plesnik on its list of the most environmentally friendly hotels in Europe, recognising the family’s long standing commitment to nature conservation and sustainable tourism.
2025
30 years of Hotel Plesnik
