About Us

WHO ARE WE?

Established in 1977, the Private Motor Truck Council of Canada (PMTC) is the only Canadian association dedicated to the interests of private fleet operators. The PMTC provides forums for fleet operators and industry stakeholders to exchange views and resolve issues together, and is at the forefront in representing your views to government, protecting your rights, and promoting your interests.

The PMTC is recognized as the voice of private trucking in Canada. We regularly field calls from trade press seeking PMTC opinions on subjects of interest to the trucking industry. PMTC President Mike Millian also has a monthly column in a leading industry magazine to promote the views of private carriers.

The PMTC provides tangible value in return for our modest membership fees. Members include fleet operators, equipment lessors, driver lessors and all types of suppliers to the private fleet community.

Many describe the PMTC as the best membership value in the Canadian transportation community.

AGENDA ANNOUNCED FOR PMTC 2026 CONFERENCE AND AGM-REGISTRATION IS OPEN   Milton, ON: The Private Motor Truck Council of Canada has announced the full agenda & schedule for its 2026 Conference.  “Each year those who attend the PMTC Annual Conference tell us it is one of the best educational and networking values they receive in the transportation industry. We believe this year's line up of speakers continues to build on that reputation”, says PMTC President, Mike Millian.  While staying in Niagara Falls, we are changing locations to the beautiful Fallsview Casino Resort. New this year is a full 2-day event, as opposed to being spread out over 3 days, being held on June 16th & 17th. Feedback from sponsors & attendee's last year was in favour of moving to this format, & we wanted to ensure we followed through on our commitment to listen to feedback from our supporters! “ If interested in sponsoring or attending, don't wait, as we sold out of exhibitor space last year”   The conference will kick off the morning of June 16th with the Annual General Meeting for the membership.    A schedule of topics and events is listed below, and the full brochure with details, and registration is attached to this message, as well as up on the PMTC website at www.pmtc.ca. (Conference agenda & schedule subject to change without notice)   This year's conference will take place at the Fallsview Casino Resort in Niagara Falls, On.   Registration is now open. • Volunteer your time to reach the next generation

Volunteer your time to reach the next generation   Recently I had the opportunity to speak to students from Glenview Park Secondary school in Cambridge, On. The Business & Education Partnership of Waterloo Region (BEPWR) put on a number of career days at schools in the region. They invited volunteers in to provide career talks to the students. In this case, myself and 2 other volunteers began the day speaking to a grad 9 class. We each took about 10 minutes discussing our own career path and then opened it up to the students to ask us questions. Next we split off and spoke to grade 10 students in smaller groups of 6 to 8 students for small group discussions to once again discuss our personal career journey. While this invitation to speak was not intended to promote an industry, when you tell your career story, which has been solely in the transportation industry since you were 18 years old, it ends up being a promotion of the industry simply by telling your story and the various paths it has taken.
