Meet the President

Robert W. Russell
Johnson County Prosecuting Attorney
 

ImageRobert W. Russell is a graduate of the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Law. He received a Bachelor of Arts in English from William Jewell College. Upon graduation from Mizzou Law, he clerked for the Hon. James Prewitt on the Missouri Southern District Court of Appeals. Rob served as an assistant prosecutor in Cole County, Missouri under the Hon. Richard Callahan for 4 and a half years. For the next 18 years, Rob was a partner in the Kempton and Russell law firm in Sedalia, Missouri. In 2001, Rob was honored to be a recipient of the Lon O. Hocker trial lawyer award from the Missouri Bar. While at Kempton and Russell, Rob practiced criminal, personal injury, insurance defense, contract law and class actions. In 2014, he ran for and was elected Johnson County Prosecuting Attorney. Rob has been re-elected twice and is serving in his third term. He has been an editor of the chapter on venue for the Missouri Bar Criminal Law series and currently serves as the chair of the subcommittee on pre-trial detention and release of Missouri Task Force on Judicial Reform. Rob is married to Kelly and they have three grown children.
