Solid Waste Reports

SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT PLAN

The Environmental Management Act requires that all regional districts prepare and submit a solid waste management plan to the provincial government. Final plans are approved by the Minister of Environment and Climate Change Strategy after sufficient public and stakeholder consultation has taken place. View the Solid Waste Management Plan Here

LANDFILL ANNUAL REPORTS

Annual landfill reports are a requirement of our Operational Certificates. The Annual Operations and Monitoring Report generally include:

  • Tonnage discharged to the landfill footprint of each of the categories of waste
  • Leachate volumes and qualities, collected, recirculated, treated, and discharged,
  • Remaining volume and life of the landfill footprint,
  • Summary of the Design Operation and Closure Plan (DOCP) implementation,
  • Summary of significant nuisances and complaints, and actions implemented,
  • Summary of information submitted pursuant to Non-compliance Notification, Non-compliance Reporting,
  • For the next calendar year, summary of planned DOCP implementation.

 

GROUND WATER MONITORING REPORTS

Groundwater monitoring reports are a requirement of Operational Certificates and Permits.

  1. Site plan(s), sampling locations, leachate, Stormwater and surface water flow paths, groundwater elevations, gradients and flow directions,
  2. Measurement, monitoring and sampling facilities, locations, frequencies, substances, sampling and analytical procedures, quality assurance and quality control,
  3. Data interpretation including information such as trend analysis, graphs and diagrams, for measurement, monitoring and sampling results,
  4. Results, conclusions, recommendations and changes to the environmental monitoring plan.
