I just finished binging all of the murder of crows. And what was that, when this series was recommended to me it was in a low-key on the side way. Like it wasn't one of the best series I have ever come across. Damian is a character that is so real and deep. The world building and the "who knows" attitude towards the cause of the break is genius. I see so many books try and explain why and get ridden with plotholes. This book though just said one day one man had one dream (or a series of them) and that's it. While I'm sure that means it can be explored there's really no need to. The characters and settings are enough. I tried to get into the queen of smiles series but it wasn't really up my alley. She's a good character but not main character material at least to me. The other short stories are great though hopefully we get more of walker sometimes. And if by any chance you're reading Chris. Thank you for the quality you put into your work!!
I discovered this series recently and got the first book (See These Bones) for Christmas. I finished it before noon the next day. I subsequently ordered the next two immediately and finished those just as fast.
As someone who is only now recently getting back into reading after escaping the rigors of college, I just want to say how much appreciation I have for this series and how much I love the world it is set in. I’m a sucker for superhero world building and all the aspects of life that need to be considered when superpowers become involved so this was an excellent entry point back into the reading hobby! I even lent the books to a friend for him to read as well.
I found the author’s webpage recently and it led me here so I just wanted to share my enjoyment of the series and appreciation for the exciting world building he was able to establish!
