Created over 80 years ago, prominent law enforcement officers in South Carolina recognized the need for a statewide law enforcement association that would be open to all criminal justice professionals. Created in 1941, the South Carolina Law Enforcement Officers’ Association remains the “Voice of Law Enforcement in South Carolina.” .

Membership
Active membership is intended for those individuals who fall in to one of the four categories listed below.
- Certified law enforcement personnel employed full time by agencies of the State of South Carolina, its political subdivisions, or by duly constituted law enforcement components of the United States Federal Government.
- Certified correctional personnel employed full-time by agencies of the State of South Carolina, its political subdivisions, or by the United States Federal Government.
- Full time criminal justice practitioners not otherwise eligible for active membership who are recommended by the President and approved by the Board of Directors.
- Part time and/or volunteer criminal justice practitioners not otherwise eligible for active membership who are recommended by the President and approved by the Board of Directors.
