SDCCD Living Wage Increase

Effective January 1, 2024, the San Diego Community College District (SDCCD) raised its minimum wage to $22.66 per hour for student workers and $22.31 per hour for temporary employees. The increase ensures that all 250 affected employees earn a living wage as defined by MIT's Living Wage Calculator. The new wage structure aligns with the rising costs of living in San Diego, allowing permanent full-time employees to earn at least $63,606 annually and temporary full-time employees to earn $46,404.

Chancellor Gregory Smith emphasized that this change safeguards employees from housing insecurity and reinforces the district's commitment to economic equity. The wage adjustment, which was implemented in collaboration with labor unions, reflects SDCCD's leadership in supporting fair compensation for its workforce.
