Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing Program

The Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing program provides services, supports, and intervention strategies for infants, preschoolers, and school-age students with hearing loss and their families. Team members include Teachers, Deaf Mentors, and Interpreters.

Services are available for students who reside in any school district in Shasta County.

Workability

WorkAbility is a program that helps middle and high school students with disabilities prepare for employment. Services offered include career assessments, vocational training, internships, and apprenticeships.

The Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing program supports local member school districts to identify and assess students with hearing loss, as well as provide direct instruction, materials, and equipment to meet the unique needs of qualifying students.

The Vision Impairment program includes orientation and mobility training - instruction in safe, efficient, independent travel skills for navigating the school and community environments.

Workability

WorkAbility offers students with an Individualized Education Program (IEP) the opportunity to complete their secondary education while also obtaining marketable job skills.

WorkAbility provides comprehensive pre-employment skills training, employment placement and follow-up for high school students in special education who are making the transition from school to work, independent living, and postsecondary education or training.
