February Art Exhibits

Kate Franzmann is the featured artist in February in the Community Room Gallery. Kate has spent most of her life in the Driftless area, living in rural Barneveld for the past 24 years. She credits living life closely connected to the outdoors as having the greatest impact on her creative work. She enjoys working in many different media, often combining graphite, charcoal, watercolor, acrylic, and fabric. After time spent as an art educator and stay-at-home mom, Kate is now the Youth Services Librarian here at the Spring Green Community Library, which she considers her “dream job” combining her favorite things: creativity, kids and books! This exhibit can be viewed at any time during regular hours when the Community Room is not already in use. Please ask for the room key at the Circulation Desk.

Paula Barta is the featured artist in the Glass Case Gallery. Introduced to ceramics during her college years as an art major at the University of Illinois, Chicago, she went on to, first, apprenticing, then working at the wheel for 9 years at a pottery and clay mixing business in Marion, Kansas, she learned the practical side of a pottery studio. Establishing Spring Branch Pottery in rural Kansas in 1989, she built a propane-fueled kiln in her barn to fire stoneware and porcelain in reduction. Moving to Spring Green in 2016, a new studio and gallery was created in a remodeled shed behind her house. This exhibit will display a wide range of pottery. Paula’s exhibit can be enjoyed at any time during regular library hours.
